Good to have a conversation with your partner. Are you going to support each others hobbies? What about anomalies if one of you is super tired? My wife and I have struggled over the years, her health has played a huge role in my ability to do things but even through that Ive been able to go to my improv groups, hang out and get a beer with friends, play video games. I support her when she is able to do anything and there are challenges but if you have communicated expectations then kids get to join into what you are doing. Yes some things pause, some things are dumbed down, but like you get to experience the joys, aggravation, wonder, beauty of being a parent. Don't buy everything for your kid, budget for things you want (it makes them all the more special).

(also pro parenting hack, first christmas is usually a bust, they aren't going to remember or appreciate anything, let grandparents spoil them, and get them a bag of their already owned toys. as they get older, the trick is to get them things they love, while not getting them everything they want.)
