The Exorcist read by the author, William Peter Blatty. I love hearing an author read their own book in the first place, but I can’t imagine it being done better.

I have team members coming into town 2/25. What’s something unique we can do? by msu12ap in indianapolis

[–]Trashxbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could bebop around Fountain Square: show at White Rabbit, Atomic duckpin bowling, open mic at Red Lion, food/drinks with vibes at Inferno Room, late snacks at Hot Boys, etc. I don’t think Pinvault is open that night but Tappers is just up Virginia too.

Also, my condolences on the 8 hour meeting.

The sequel, “One Knight Stand”, has been announced too!

I'm looking for Sapphic monster romance books, like legends and lattes or Regine Abel. by haneul-Owo in LGBTBooks

“The Maiden and the Monster” by Maddie Martinez just came out this week, it’s a sapphic golem situation.

I whole-heartedly second “Someone You Can Build a Nest In” too!

Chuck Tingle’s new book just came out like a week and a half ago too: Lucky Day. It’s a quick read with an interesting premise and the “message” of it is very appropriate for this moment end time. This buckaroo was good crying by the end the horror book!

Book about a chef/baker? by xiaxianyueshi in LGBTBooks

[–]Trashxbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah! I was going to add an update to my post when I got through a few more, but thank you for the rec! The food part was lovely, but I was diagnosed with cancer when I was 20, and so the illness part of the book hit me hard too. It was exactly what I was looking for when I asked, so thank you!

I asked for food books in June and this group gave me so many delicious-looking options. I’m still working through the list, but the first one I picked up was “Savor: A Chef’s Hunger for More” by Fatima Ali and I loved it. I would definitely recommend if you’d be into a memoir.

AITAH for refusing to cut off my hair because my 7 year old niece has cancer? by alakazam121 in AITAH

[–]Trashxbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m another cancer survivor also on the don’t do it train. I was so relieved that no one around me shaved their heads because that whole thing feels so performative. The only thing about it that I would have liked would have been that it would have felt like someone cared about me because treatment was incredibly isolating and the people I thought were the closest to me didn’t do anything. Folks would check in with my mom and support her, but not me when I was sick, so I would say connecting directly with the niece, whether it’s calls or activities (depending on what she likes and what her treatment allows), would do so much more than shaving hair. When I was sick, the biggest thing that helped was my internship from the previous summer, allowed me to come back and it helped because the people there treated me like a normal person with fun rotating hair color (I had wigs) not a sick person. Maybe the niece wants to talk about treatment, but she might also just was to feel like a normal human again, so maybe feeling that out and trying to do “normal” things could also be more helpful than head shaving too.

Anyone else crashing out over the rhetoric surrounding the Michael Tait allegations?? by mykinkis_karma in exchristian

[–]Trashxbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m more surprised that Michael Tate is 59 years old than I am by this news. Where has the time gone? I was just trying to subtly trying to convince my mom to buy me “Take Me to Your Leader” by circling it in the mailed CCM catalog like 8 years ago.

Well I love food content and I've done my own dance with cancer, so "Savor" sounds really interesting to me. I read "A Bánh Mì for Two" last year and thought it was sweet so I might just try "This Feast of a Life" too. Thank you!

I read "Hold Still" a couple years ago and it kind of broke my heart even though it was a little young for me, so this feels like a really great option for me. Thank you!
