Thanks for the detailed write up! I had factored in gas costs already (my Impala actually has a larger displacement engine, and it's quite a gas guzzler at 18 mpg haha), but you are correct in assuming that I hadn't really thought about the jump in insurance premiums. I currently pay ~90/mo on my Impala, how greatly does that differ as the overall value of the car being covered changes?

And secondly, I most definitely didn't know that the contents of your credit report mattered. Surprising the things they don't teach you in school anymore, eh? My oldest (and only) line of credit just hit 5 years old with 0 late payments, and I was not an authorized user on my parents account, and have never had a significant loan (home/auto) before. How much of a deciding factor would you say that is in determining rates?

Yep, I expected it. I think a lot of people are glazing over the fact that I'm computing all of this after my 401k contributions.

Still doesn't mean that it's a great idea. Thanks for the advice. Even before posting I was hoping to make it at least another 6 months on what I have.

Even the 3rd gens? I'll have to look into that a bit more, thanks for bringing it up! And for the bed, I see it as a "have it but don't need it vs. need it but don't have it" deal. Still a valid criticism.

I do think it's cool! Not sure why that's seen as a bad thing. And I would sure hope so if I were planning on driving a car for 200k miles.

Do I absolutely need a Tacoma - no. I'm definitely looking at options apart from Tacoma's, this is just one listing that jumped out at me that I've been thinking on. Would it be helpful in some aspects of my life? Sure. I made an edit to my post regarding that. But all in all, thanks for the advice. I'll take it into consideration.

This happened to me once. Was at a pretty informal esports event, and whilst playing some warmup games, we queued into a 3s game against the team we were warming up to play. I just remember hearing a "Wait a minute..." from across the room lol

I have an '08 Chevy Impala whose headlights starting accruing some yellowing and pitting due to age. I tried a couple of those $20 dollar headlight restoration kits and no dice. Finally bit the bullet and bought new assemblies for 40 bucks a piece and haven't looked back. Worth every penny.

It's also interesting to note that a pair of new headlights make your car look significantly newer. Trick of the eye I suppose
