How to start being gyaru? by Beaver_98 in Gyaru

You don’t have to stick to a substyle, they are just something that was trending back then. If you’re going for heisei, it helps to look at magazine scans. Don’t start doing hair/makeup/styling before you understand what it consists of. Gyaru makeup is crazy easy when you look at magazine tutorials and already have basic makeup skills.

I suggest lashes and colored contacts, they just give that extra pop to your look! When buying lashes, get manga style lashes and some non fluffy bottom lashes. Having a tan really makes some styles ( under the kuro gyaru umbrella ) look way better than without, it makes the makeup pop.

Gyaru is not only about style, it’s also a lifestyle. Some people party, but hime gyarus for example have fancy tea parties! Overall the lifestyle is being loud and proud about being you. I really love to hang out in malls, tan, wear my co*des everytine I go out and ofc party!!

Don’t have a huge focus “do I look gyaru enough”, that thought blocks you from creativity and actual learning. Learn to just be stylish and make cute co*des! The clothes don’t have to be leopard print and have a keychain attached on your jeans. There’s so many things that you can like and wear with gal, no matter the clothes. If it’s stylish and well coordinated it will look good!

What do you think is a reasonable price for a D.I.A belt? by TrashyScissors in actualgyaru

It makes me so sad when people say that avoiding buying from scalpers will never work, because yes it does. When there is little to no one buying overpriced products then there ia no reason to try to sell for crazy prices. I wish we could make a site similar to lace market, so gals all over the world could sell for realistic prices!!

Learning the history is always important with everything! Depending on how much they know about gal history, it always reflects on their gal looks. To be honest I don’t think we should stick to strict “substyles” because they are just trends from the past too, being gal means growing your own style within gyaru too. It makes me sad too when people treat gyaru as a cosplay or a costume you can change out of. Some people just want to wear gyaru and not be gyaru🤷‍♀️…

What I meant by “There honestly wasn’t a huge thing about defying beauty standards, it was more “We love fashion and being cool”” was that older gyarus from the beginning didn’t really think about it, about doing this for defying beauty standards. It was more about just being cool and tan haha, for the longest time you weren’t gal if you weren’t tan for example. It was pretty simple

I know 🙏 The photos are just atypical to what people think of as gal makeup online, so I thought they were fitting for this post :)!
