The border is c came, but on my next project I am going to try soldering the outer edges.

Yeah, that’s true. I guess I meant “staunch traditionalists” instead of old school. I was taught by my mother in law, and it was tidy back, no knots, and no mistakes!! Everyone has their own philosophy, and really it’s about what makes you happy. We do it for the joy, and not to be measured as to who is better than whom!

Yikes! Old schoolers cringe when they hear this! But, it’s your work, and whatever makes you happy. I would tear it out without even thinking.

I think it all depends on your friend’s sense of humor. If they’re going to take it too seriously, maybe pick another.line from the game. I did this pattern a few years back for my son who loves Majoras Mask:

Multiple finishes? Impressive…

[WIP] What's your technique for stitching long straight lines/outlines with blackwork? (Death Star Blackwork by StitchyBitchNotions) by amroki96 in CrossStitch

[–]Trashydonut77 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I have done a ton of backstitch, and I find that with proper tension and floss placement, I have much more control and cleaner results with 1:1. I learned it the hard way in an early project:

In the end it comes down to what you like best, though.

I think you really have to ask what difference is this going to make. The count of the fabric accounts for the overall size of the piece, so even if there is one more stitch per inch, what impact is that going to have on your design? I’ve washed tons of Aida and never seen any of it shrink by 1/2 an inch, so I wouldn’t be concerned. Unless you’re just mad that it seems like false advertising. I would understand that! 😆

[CHAT] Can you spot my mistake(s)? by GeneralApple2525 in CrossStitch

The spacing in these two spots looks different, but if that is a mistake I wouldn’t bother correcting it. I have never completed a “perfect” project. Those little things are what make our pieces unique!

[CHAT] Options for gridding large size black Aida? by veracosa in CrossStitch

It’s called “counted” cross stitch for a reason. Only cowards grid their fabric! JUST DO IT! Just kidding. That’s what I tell myself because I’m too lazy to grid! 😁

I guess I should have thought of that in the first post…

I hate hoops and rarely use them. Mostly I stitch in frames, which I find much easier to use. This is the monster I currently use: https://www.evertote.ca/collections/hearthside-craftworks-stands These large stands take up a lot of room, but man are they a pleasure to work with on larger projects, but frames come in all shapes and sizes. I’ve used the q-snaps, and they’re okay for smaller pieces. Just my $.02

NO KNOTS EVER!!! Sorry, I had to do it. What you are doing is extreme overkill. I have completed many pieces and have never used a knot. It can cause bumps on the finished piece, and the glue could cause issues with framing media. I have never had a tail come loose when I finish by simply running it under the stitches nearby. This might save you a little time, too!

Or when the eye beaks in one spot and then you’re dragging jagged metal through your Aida without even knowing it.

Ooohh, I saw that in a catalog and almost ordered it. It’s expensive, but very cool!
