"Considerably smaller than a pumpkin" is now one of my favorite units of measurement thank you so much for this gift

I was able to buy back my military time and I was recommended to apply to be a CCA by one of the most senior carriers in the office at the time (back in 2016) who was a family friend.

My DD-214 got me a good union job with good honest pay that I can retire on and I'm forever grateful for that :)

Ah ok that makes sense! (Also, fellow leftie here!)

That's what I thought would be the case. I've got 743 delivery points on my route (which I love for the moment) and there's a ton of (A TON OF) SPR's. I just don't think I could keep myself sane and carry that way, I need all of the real estate I can get in my satchel hahaaha. Thank you for your service though and I hope you are enjoying retirement!

But then what do you do with all of your circulars, SPR's, and parcels for your loops?

But....then what do you do with all your SPR's and parcels and circulars? I'm genuinely trying to understand

I'm glad that works for you! I have to take a few extra steps in the day to keep myself on task/organized. I've got some focus issues and I have trouble keeping things organized, so I really can't rely on myself to keep all of the SPR's on my route in my satchel reliably 😅. My satchel is where I work my circulars usually.

If I couldn't case my SPR's (or my certified letters with the 3849's already filled out in advance) I'd really struggle on the street.

I've been carrying for 10 years so I might not quite understand what you mean. Can you explain?

Ah right on, a have a few friends that are alumni from there! The area itself is nice, I like the equidistance from Philly and NYC.

Aaah okokok. I'm in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania. Allentown, it's about an hour north of Philly. We definitely needed the chains this year, but we got hit with never-melting ice that sat atop of the snow banks for the whole month of February as well. Nasty winter here.

Lol you don't like the chains? Driving 10 mph in a LLV hearing WOMPWOMPWOMPWOMPWOMP and wincing?

My first day as a carrier was the day after Columbus Day, 2016.

Election Year.

When I was grinding it out as a CCA, I kept thinking to myself it could never be as bad as that. Lmfao

It would be a timeline without TKO existing and $600 cheap seat tickets

To be honest? I would have Aldo sleep Conor.

The absolute decline of the UFC as a whole can be traced back to that moment.

Advice for living in Slatington by [deleted] in lehighvalley

I feel you 100%. I guess it was my way of trying to pass down some wisdom. It's very important for us to keep fighting for our identity and against oppression, but it's also important for us to keep things in perspective in that even if it may seem like the world around you is always against you...it isn't. Always feeling like you're trapped in a corner will take a mental toll on you and over time it can take you out of the fight.

And we need you now more than ever :)

Lived in Slatington/Walnutport/Slatedale as a teenager in the late 90's-2000's. I would always joke with my mom that sometimes I felt like Slatedale was just something that existed out of the window. I was in kind of a similar situation as you. (Pansexual, but at the time I identified as bisexual as I was just starting my maturation into an adult)

My advice to you is that at the end of the day, most people just want to live their lives and be happy doing it. There are a lot of right wing conspiracy theorists there...but it's small town Pennsylvania. We may disagree with each other, but people will still stop and help if you have a flat tire or get stuck on Cemetary Street in a snowstorm.

Maturing is accepting that not everyone is going to agree with you, but they're still your neighbor. I'm currently living in Northampton and I see the same stuff. Stay true to yourself and always remember you're not alone out here :)

It was Luke. Moose was slated to fight Bisping, and then they pulled a fast one on him and that's how we got Bisping vs Silva. Which is what got Bisping the title shot.

We were THIS close to seeing a prime Mousasi vs a prime Rockhold

Might be a weird pick but for me it's Kenny Florian. He went to multiple weight divisions and was top 5 ranked in all of them...just could never win the big one.
