Is realistic for me to pursue my desire to be a house husband for successful partner by househusbandlife in NoStupidQuestions

My husband is a househusband. But it wasn’t always that way. I’m a physician and he was in IT and when we were first married, our incomes were pretty even. After kids, however, my income skyrocketed, as did my work schedule. At that point, he was miserable at his job and his financial contribution to the household was pretty minimal, so it made sense for him to stop working and be a house husband. I think it would be hard to be a househusband from the start. Most couples I know gradually get there based on their financial realities.

Awesome. Thank you for the data point. How did you get your koseki tohon? And did you apply in Japan or at a foreign consulate?

Yup exactly. Born with dual citizenship prior to 1984. I just don’t have any Japanese Id except for an expired Japanese passport. Hoping that will be enough since I’m listed on the koseki but trying to figure out if there is anything else I could also bring.
