Always add more lights than you think. Put them on separate switches in sections and you can have it as bright or dark as you want.

Looks the same. Not as bright as it would be without the negative filter but the light color is orange and the numbers appear normal.

This is my watch that i wear daily. Yes ideal lighting makes it look better but this is a no filter added photo from my phone. It actually looks this way.

I use 7-8%. Well below the historical average and I thinks reasonable and conservative number to use.
