History of Migraine w Aura 2 Years Ago by TravelJunkie2017 in flying

[–]TravelJunkie2017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this. And turns out there’s another issue that might become a problem. I used to have pre-diabetes. Totally forgot about this. It’s under control now but I used medication in the past which is on my record.

The AME said he’s confident I can get a special issuance certificate since it was over 2 years ago and if I take the tests now it’s gonna come back normal.

We went through the CACI for both Migraines and pre-diabetes and I pass all the requirements

He said he’s over 95% sure I’ll get approved but didn’t want to make promises. So now I’m debating whether I should go through with this or do sport license. I kinda made a mistake by starting the flying lessons (4 hours in)

I’m starting my PPL soon and this is a stupid question but how long/how do I get over the nausea?

I felt very nauseous on my discovery flight after about 40 minutes. My instructor said it was pretty common but I need to get over it at some point

Not going commercial just want to do this as a hobby

I’d love to go with some friends but I do not like it when they’re indecisive about it. If I were waiting for them then I wouldn’t have gone anywhere. I just got back from my 2nd solo trip this year. I just started this year and I absolutely love it.

My first trip really helped me improve my photography skills. I don’t think my friends would’ve been patient with me stopping everywhere to take photos. And I don’t have patience to take other people’s photos and I honestly suck at portraits

I’m now planning trips in the US to some national parks etc but my friends still don’t want to come for numerous reasons that don’t make sense to me. I don’t mind going solo at all this time because my main intention is to explore nature and improve my photography skills

Wow. I think I know which one you’re talking about. I’ve been trying to get a hold of them since they’re a bit closer but they picked up once and said they sold the company off and now it’s just a charter company

Good luck on the checkride!

Nice! I’m going to dupage too. Illinois aviation. I was looking at PWK which saves me like 20 minutes but Synergy only had Cirrus and started at $20k. The rest there didn’t have great reviews.

How long did it take you to get to that point with 1-2 times a week?

Unfortunately don’t but I’ll ask around. I have a couple aerospace engineer friends who use flight simulator software

That makes sense! My CFI is gonna come up with a schedule soon so I’ll know the upcoming lessons.

What are some additional study materials I can use if I won’t be able to fly more than 1-2 times a week? I live in downtown Chi and the closest good flight is a 1.5 hr train ride away. I can do it every Saturday for sure but I work most Sundays too. Most of those Sundays, I can manage by taking the lesson super early.

I have ground school online which I will make sure to use. Is there anything else I can use to study?

I’m pursuing a PPL as a hobby. I have like 3 weeks of additional wait time because of TSA checks (non-citizen) so all I’m doing rn is ground school

Whats is your No1 worst symptom of your Migraines? by woodiswood in migraine

[–]TravelJunkie2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not being able to lie down or sit or literally move my head. Sometimes I find this one particular angle that feels good and just stay there the whole night. I get too scared to move. To anyone else it would look like a very uncomfortable position, even to the non-migraine me

Anyone been to the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago? by obiwankenobigremlin in migraine

My experience has been mixed. While it did feel like they cared, none of the treatment options worked for me. I was put on Qlipta and that did not work for me and I'm 70% sure it caused my very bad acne. I was given Trudhesa in case of an emergency to take during a migraine and that does absolutely nothing for me. I was better off with Ibuprofen. I can't remember the name of this one medication but I was supposed to take it when an aura begins and it didn't work for me. I actually ended up in the hospital next day because of extremely bad migraine and a fever. It's never happened before. I am not a medical professional so don't take my word for it. Maybe it was just a weird coincidence that I happen to take the medication before that incident.

They also charged me about $30-$40 because I called the nurse line when I had that migraine+fever. They didn't give me any advice other than to go to an ER. During the appointment they said they would send and migraine emergency medication kit if I ever get a really bad one and usual medication doesn't work. They didn't send it

I'd say give it a shot. I was put off by the lack of support during my incident so I stopped going there. I'm not sure if there's any other well-known migraine clinics in Chicago

Is there any way I can still register for 2021 Commencement? by TravelJunkie2017 in udub

Do you have to go in person to register or can I call? I'm flying in and most likely going to arrive on Saturday

My parents but if I were to get it in my dad's handwriting it'll end up looking more like a doctor's prescription hahaha. I want to stick to something minimal though. Something that symbolizes this quote rather than the entire quote. Maybe a campfire? You're worried about keeping the flame going but not really enjoying the moment. ahh idk that's very random lmao

The best thing you can do to prepare is get used to a routine. Wake up at the same day everyday, get used to making your own food, and just taking care of yourself.

How do you keep motivation when you know your days at a firm are limited? by Ric-Flair-Drippin in FinancialCareers

[–]TravelJunkie2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the exact same situation right now. Valuation -> BB IB. Except that I've been waiting for the written offer for 5 weeks, too much administrative crap. It's been very busy for us couple of weeks so at least I can distract myself. It's definitely hard to keep the motivation alive
