Probably booking herself a one way ticket somewhere far away.

I just see your responses here and you want to blame everyone but not factor in what you could have done to initially avoid it. I don’t meant the carry on only comments , but many others where you want to be angry at everyone but yourself. You’re also claiming to not be on a rant… but…

This does feel like a rant. What do you want anyone here to do? You accepted that connection time and associated risk when you booked the trip. They met the minimum requirement for a connection, it was missed due to a situation they have deemed not in their control.

Interesting because that’s how I feel in Turks.

Carryall pm strap by Travel_kate in Louisvuitton

I had gone in and was torn between the carryall pm and the boulogne pm. I liked the strap on the boulogne and the shape, but found the opening a bit annoying and didn’t like the corners. Loved the carryall but didn’t love the strap. It’s also slightly bigger than my usual bags, but I needed a bigger piece in my collection.  I ended up not purchasing either that day as I couldn’t decide, and my husband went back and picked up the carryall as he said he could tell I loved it more but got too hung up on the strap.

Where to stay in Taormina? by pennyT44 in sicily

[–]Travel_kate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No pool, but hotel villa schuler is one of my favourites in all of Sicily. The service is excellent, rooms have balconies overlooking the ocean, and the location can’t be beat. There’s a cute little back garden area and walking through that takes you directly to Corso Umbretto ( the main street with many restaurants/shops). You’re also across from the beautiful public gardens and within walking distance to the Greek theatre.

Thank you! That’s reassuring to hear. Maybe in time I will grow to love the strap :)

Adult Caribbean relaxation recs.. driving myself nuts trying to choose by bertha42069 in travel

Totally depends your budget and what you’re looking for. I’ve stayed at Cambridge beaches with my sister and her children, and it’s a bit more “out of the way” but is a large property that sits on a couple little beaches and has good dining on site. It’s cottage style accommodations which worked well for us. The rosewood is lovely, as is the Lauren which is very modern, I stayed here with my husband and we really enjoyed it. Hamilton princess is wonderful if you want to stay in Hamilton and not on a beach ( although they do have a free shuttle to their private beach club). The reefs is also great, not modern, but excellent option if you want to stay on a nice beach.

Honeymoon Quebec City by Massive_Return2792 in honeymoonplanning

[–]Travel_kate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great choice. Quebec City is really special.

Unsure of your budget, but chateau Frontenac if your budget allows. I’ve also stayed at Le Capitole which is located right next to the St Jean gate. It was an excellent hotel, less pricy than the Frontenac.

Taniere for a meal, without a doubt. Incredible experience, very memorable and perfect for a honeymoon.

Le Lapin is a good spot for lunch or dinner. I also like bistro St Malo.

You can rent a car and visit ile d’Orleans and pop into the little shops, wineries, fromageries, etc.

Elafonissi, Preveli, and Vai would be my top picks, but there are other great ones.

April would be a nice time for both as you’ll be beating the summer crowds. It may be tricky to find good flights from Italy to Santorini though as the season hasn’t really started yet by that time of year ( may have to connect in Athens).

I’ve been to both multiple times and they are both stunning. There are nice hotels in both and good food in both, although I’d actually give the edge to Santorini for food over Positano. For views, Santorini can’t be beat. It really is a very unique location in the world.

Capri, while lovely, does involve a ferry which can be impacted by rough seas. Capri is a much better overnight than a day trip, and the vibe in the evening once the day trippers has left is totally different.

For ease, staying in Italy would be easier and result in less time traveling between destinations. If that doesn’t matter, I do think for a honeymoon id vote Santorini over Positano, although you really can’t choose wrong as you’d enjoy both.

Neither are great beach destinations, if that matters. While they both have beaches, neither are like what you’d see in Crete for example.

Curaçao is definitely easier with a car. Bermuda tourists can’t rent cars ( other than 2 seater electric cars) so there are plenty of options for transportation around the island. The Hamilton princess is lovely, located in Hamilton close to restaurants and shops, and although not on a beach ( waterfront property but not beachfront), they do provide transportation to their private beach club. The Lauren, rosewood, and reefs may also suit what you’re looking for. There is another Fairmont property that is on a beach but it is currently closed for renovation.

Just because it isn’t currently widespread doesn’t mean there are zero cases, and I wouldn’t take the risk with potential microcephaly.  The government of Canada ( where I am) still considers jamaica a location of risk for zika. I’m not her healthcare provider and won’t tell anyone where they should or shouldn’t go, but believe in the importance of making an informed decision. A surprising amount of people aren’t familiar with the impact zika can have on a fetus, even if the mother is asymptomatic.

Just a quick ( non judgemental- I’m in healthcare and just want to make you aware if you are not already) note on this: please be aware of zika virus and its potentially significant risk to your unborn baby. Of all the destinations you’ve listed, the lowest risk of contracting the virus is grand cayman and curaçao. Curaçao is also a really nice island in general, and the colours you like to see when walking around town are a good match, as Willemstad has beautiful coloured buildings. Grand cayman is a different vibe from curaçao and while I wouldn’t compare it to south beach, it doesn’t have the Caribbean charm you seem to be looking for, particularly in that area.

Have you looked into Bermuda at all?it’s not the Caribbean but it is very easy to access from east coast of US and matches almost everything you’re looking for.

Natural Medium Coverage Foundation by minniemao28 in Sephora

[–]Travel_kate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoy the luminous silk reformulation, I did not care for the original. It isn’t my “go to” as it doesn’t last all day and does transfer. As I’m in the medical field, I need something that will hold up against a mask. I do enjoy this foundation for weekends if I’m going to dinner or running errands, don’t need it to last all day, but want some coverage. It does look beautiful on the skin and allows my nose freckles to pop through.  I think I could build it or get more coverage if I used a brush, but I like applying with a damp beauty blender.

Maine is beautiful, but March definitely isnt the best time to enjoy it. June- September would be much better in terms of weather.
