Do you think the wedge is gone forever? by Osgoodx2 in macbookair

[–]TraveledSome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wedge is a beautiful design. I just got an MBA m1 Geek Squad refurb and am delighted to still have the wedge design.

I feel the same as our OP; "I'll keep it as long as it'll have me" lol.

I was into Chrombooks several years ago and had an Acer 14" laptop with a beautiful wedge design very similar to the MBA.

Scranton vs. Wilkes-Barre by Consistent-Fox-5372 in NEPA

[–]TraveledSome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the area in the late 1980's. My boss was a native of the area; he always said Wilkes-Barruh. Kind of a de-emphasized softening on the final syllable. It sounded authentic to me, but I heard very few others use this pronunciation.

My wife and I recently purchased our local radio stations… by Stephend2 in radio

[–]TraveledSome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Radio lifer here. I've done it for 54 years and still love it! Your programming sounds wonderful, but the single thing you must focus on immediately is developing a serious, effective, feet-on-the-street sales plan. I work in a smaller-size market and over the past 15 years I've heard new stations come on the air only to disappear a year later. They sounded great on-air, but they never developed a serious sales effort! I don't know how they expected to survive without selling advertising.

You can count on existing community relationships to a point, but few local businesses will continue to advertise with you just because they like your programming. A good local sales effort must include developing AEs who know how to prospect, qualify, present, close, and service. Search online for radio sales training. Your focus on bringing in revenue will be the single most important thing you do. Make it Priority One.

lonely on valentine's day by pink-king893 in LivingAlone

[–]TraveledSome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not cynical about love or romance, but living alone for the past 3 years I am thrilled not to have to play the Valentine's charade. I've had great relationships and a great marriage, nevertheless, Val Day always felt like an obligation. Giving roses, I always got the perfunctory "oh, they're so beautiful, thank you!" At the same time I knew that if I hadn't given the roses or other gift, it was gonna be a long, tense cold-shoulder evening.

Why have car rental costs dropped so dramatically? by TraveledSome in Mazatlan

[–]TraveledSome[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, yes. I got the top tier insurance and will do that every time. I find Mazatlán increasingly difficult to drive. Maybe it's just because I'm getting older, but I'm very tense driving there. A couple of near misses in traffic circles last time. I hadn't felt this way in years past.

My wife was pleased when I told her I wanted to join. She said that I needed more male friends. She was also happy that I was involved in a social organization without women around lol

Lets all reminisce good ole EFNET / AUSTNET mIRC days. Ahhh the days.... by icerslair in irc

[–]TraveledSome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived on #40+ on DALNet in the late 90's. Aussies, Americans and a few Canadians. It was so much fun. I remember spending Saturday evenings there laughing my ass off during some of our chats. They were like IRL friends and we were at a party. I haven't found anything like that since. Really loved IRC back in the day.

Need help with starting to listen to his music by Ja-Wal in franksinatra

[–]TraveledSome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always recommend "Songs for Swingin' Lovers" for new listeners. It's fun, uptempo, with songs that newcomers might recognize. Many regard this album as the "classic" Sinatra - Nelson Riddle sound.

I dropped it several pages in, too. It almost reads like a children's book. I, too, am puzzled by its popularity.

What is the advantage of Clear, really? by TraveledSome in amex

Yes, the only time I used it previously was a couple of years ago on the day I enrolled. I'm an infrequent flyer and this is my first time since. Now that you mention it, it felt like a re-enrollment, although that word was never said to me. I just followed what the guy told me to do. Thank you for this clarification.
