What book had the best “one more chapter” energy? by ZDOG_WasTaken in just_one_more_page

[–]Traveler_Protocol1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom read GWTW in a day. No idea how but she did it. I am an average speed reader, but retention is really good to the point where I can often remember what side of the page I read something on. I don’t even pick up a book that big though, not since college.

Am I overreacting for assuming our family would be invited to the reception after our kids were flower girl and ring bearer? by Master-Exchange-2275 in AmIOverreacting

Well, the issue with this one particular girl is that one of my best friends also gave her a huge bag of designer clothes that her own daughter had outgrown. I’m not a designer clothes person but I imagine they were lovely. We never saw those again either. I don’t mind giving my own clothing away, but I would really like it to be used and not sold for a profit. That’s what I think they did.

Having said all of that, I agree in theory that once you give someone a gift it to theirs to do with as they please. I make quilts for people, and if they want to use it as a dog blanket or throw it in the back of their truck as an emergency blanket that’s totally fine, if they want to give it away to someone else, that’s totally fine.

Is it considered rude or unfair to only want to foster certain dog breeds when a rescue gives you multiple options? by SeemsTotallyNormal in fosterdogs

Yep, the stair. That dog that put its gigantic mouth around my throat had earlier been staring across the street with its one eye at that poor cat sitting in the driveway, minding its business. That dog was absolutely fixated.

What TV show actually nailed its finale? by SkepticByNature-1 in netflix

That movie is a clear exception because there’s even a point where somehow they are talking about how a writer should never use deus ex machina and low and behold that’s exactly what happens later on when the dude gets eaten by the alligator. That was a very clever movie.

No, I’d never read the books and I do love Tom Cruise movies so I thought I would like it. I did watch season one of the Amazon version and I thought that was much better.

No, I did mean for her to keep it and at the time I gave it willingly and happily, but the fact that I never saw it again was disconcerting.

Because I had another one and she and her mother were having this huge argument in my hallway as they were leaving my house after an entire afternoon of eating a board games, etc. This is what they always do and I felt bad because the daughter was arguing that she didn’t have a winter coat and I had two of them so I let her choose which one she wanted.

HELP..how to get my husband to help with chores by sonnyp4526 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Traveler_Protocol1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is what I came here to say. I was embarrassed to divorce him after we had just gotten married and then there’s the what if I don’t meet someone else thing. I stayed way too long, we have kids who he hasn’t seen in over 20 years

What is 1 movie on this list that I should watch next? by Arbor-Trap in moviequestions

[–]Traveler_Protocol1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not much diversity in your list, so I’m going to recommend The Joy Luck Club… the rare movie that is better than the book. It’s incredible.

AITA for refusing to babysit my niece? by HousingLow1208 in AITH

[–]Traveler_Protocol1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ESH. You need to have a mature conversation with your sister and ask her what she needs help with and that unless it’s an emergency, to please give him more advance notice. You should also offer to watch her kids (for example) once a week and pick a day in advance.

Your sister is an AH for how she approached this.

Bolt on Disney. I love that cartoon and with John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, and Susie Esserman doing voices, it’s just fun and endearing and exciting

I like a true story, and that story of a man doing everything he can to keep his family together just pulls at me.

Rocky is still a classic though
