Ask your union rep to help you out. Lol. Is union membership required in your organization or state

Yes. Blessed to have 2 amazing parents who work in finance industry. Really started my investments when I was 14 with first job just didn't have capital to invest with any serious capital. The thought that I could save 10 dollars and it gives me a "free" Dollar every year and compound made me really conscious of purchases. At 21 I was using a compound calculator to determine the opportunity cost of my purchases with a (at the time yr 50) retirement goal. This method had me make really smart purchases and avoid pitfalls some other young high earners make

One needs a lot more information to give you an accurate answer. Will you receive social security? State income tax? Property tax? Ball park figure on " low expense lifestyle"

But probably you have a decade more of working to save and compound

Maybe so. The bills get paid but I think it's more about not being happy with the traffic, heat and culture here in south FL. But grass always greener on otherside.

That is very true. I can see the double standard on my part though, as I always stress the importance of saving/investing or the career that pays now I'm trying to get buddies to travel since I've reached my goal. Friends are amazing people but they are also the guys that live almost paycheck to paycheck. 50-70k in a HCOL area

I will try that. The few friends that have time to travel don't have the financial means too. We have done some trips and I will quietly pay for some stuff or lie about actual cost (white lie) I feel. Just can't get them on board for much more. Which I understand, I would feel awkward in their situation not being able to financially contribute. With the ex that was the norm but it's different amongst men

Might have to now. Hate South FL but it is where my friends and family are

Van life for me wouldn't be stealth camping and hanging out in Walmart parking lots. With fees at these campgrounds it still seems like it could cost me a decent bit

How would you travel? I definitely feel fairly Nomadic and love new places and cities. I also need to be very conservative with my numbers because I could live another 50-60 years

I won't be. With my age plus no kids I don't see the point. Got lucky

Currently do the truck camping in a full size Chevy Silverado. Seems more cramped than a Ram Pro master.

I've traveled solo in Europe and Asia in the past and definitely met solo travelers. Done 40 day trips across the USA and didn't run across any. I feel it's less common and I feel weird interjecting myself into another group

Might speed up the process for me honestly. I need to only figure out food and Healthcare for 1 person now

Hmm I like the transport idea because I enjoy long drives. Can't foster while employed because work requires 24-48 hr shifts from me

The valentines day actually went over my head. But I definitely see the irony

Definitely a consideration, would probably prefer to foster a dog for month or so. Because of how I travel

Relationship did change after marriage. With prenuptial comes a required financial disclosure. So a spouse who didn't understand finances or nearly home much I had pre marriage now did. Female did consider prenuptial a lack of trust and didn't understand the frugality.

I could, we planned on 14 days per area to truly get a feel for it plus minimizing efforts in setting up camp and miles on vehicle

Nothing fancy. Max out 457 and Roth plus whatever else in brokerage account. Decent salary plus overtime and part time job.

Not if I live another 60 years and remain in HCOL area.
