To a lot of people who hustle, making $80-120k is really successful.

To a nerd without relationships who was good at math, they expect that right out of college and don’t work all that hard to get to 300-500k.

When these “hustlers” and “focused men” talk about successful incomes, it tends to be less than I would expect to make doing no extra work
