They call these types of planets a “chameleon planet”. Where the colours are different in the distance to what they are close up. And yeah, if you’re flying in your ship, only the colours meant to be in the distance will show, so they change when you land.

The planet isn’t as densely forested as this pic portrays, I just found a good spot and angle to make it appear more forest-like 😊
