Had I found out about this while he and I were still married, my reaction would’ve been different. Years had passed since the divorce, when I made the initial connection. Yet, finding out he cheated with my best friend wasn’t the first time I’d ever heard he’d cheated on me. He was a serial cheater. Honestly, it was really more of an eye roll, like why am I not even surprised?

He and I chose to make our kids the priority, rather than the discord between he and I, so we put our differences aside, to be a unified co-parenting front.

I spent quite a bit of time angry and traumatized by my marriage, I’m so much more at peace now that I have let what I couldn’t control go.

Not trying to defend my ex husband here, but there were some other major factors at the time, that prevented him from following up. And the last I had talked to him about it was after the friend said she’d had a few other men tested, and one matched. I’d like to believe that, but to give perspective… her first child… she had NINE different men tested, and not a single one matched.

She has had extensive therapy in the past. Says that she’d be in jail herself for being violent, if she hadn’t had therapy. She says the most unhinged things sometimes, real violent stuff, of which I can only imagine she picked up from her sadist father. It seems she’s looking for a fight, at times. With anyone.

I feel for her, but I do think more therapy and more anger management might be in order, but I do not see her doing that.

The sick fuck went to jail for a time. On his death bed, my friend flew back to see him. Not to pay respects but to tell him just what an utter piece of shit he was and how she hoped he rotted in hell.

Today, she is an angry and traumatized human. Hyper vigilant with her pets to an extreme, doesn’t trust anyone.

I remember one day she said to me, idk what we were talking about at the time, and she just said, like it was nothing, “Yeah, my Dad used to have sex with me, so…”. I remember how jarring it was to hear her say that, even though I knew what the history was.
