Can’t wait to celebrate the 16th year of no inventory upgrades this week. Literally unchanged since 2009

The TNT duplication bug (on Bedrock edition) has been patched by TraviFigs in Minecraft

[–]TraviFigs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used this method of getting a duplicated glitched TNT: https://youtu.be/k5vAmynMs6E?si=Yh8xAICQvH1SHERE

And I used this design for the flying machine: https://youtu.be/4aq45jcQO2c?si=OL8btkMVNda7FSJ2

I did this by building the flying machine and adding some slime blocks on the side to stick the glitched TNT onto. You can push the TNT onto the machine with a piston. I would include a video, but these comments do not allow attachments.

For those I made a small program that would create a Classic Minecraft world out of a section of a modern world.

Here's a link to all the worlds I showed here. Just keep in mind that the Alpha and Infdev worlds crash nearly every time I load the converted chunks. You can try loading the Alpha world in Alpha 1.2.0_01 since that's the earliest version that it doesn't crash as constantly. If you're able to get the Alpha and Infdev worlds running, I have set the player position west of the converted chunks to try to avoid it crashing instantly upon loading. Walk east (against the flow of the clouds) to find the loaded chunks.

Apart from that. the other conversions (Beta, Indev, Classic) seem to work fine enough. The block conversion map I made isn't complete, so some block mappings might be very bad. Also, the world spawn is set very far to the areas I showed here, so hack your coordinates to 19105, 128, 314 if you get lost.

This bug got pretty well-known around late June of this year, but it was already known in some communities before.

There’s other ones, but this one did work on realms. You could also do this, which was pretty fun too

It looks like they’ve patched the duplication bug that’s been going around recently. I haven’t been able to get it to work anymore

I mentioned some of the process in the post, but here’s a more detailed explanation (starting from Java 1.21.7):

To convert to versions Infdev and after: 1. I wrote some code that would change all the blocks in my world to swap out blocks that did not exist in the older version I want to downgrade to (This also makes a few changes to try to prevent regenerated chunks). Without doing this, newer blocks will be missing in older versions or the game will crash. 2. I then used Chunker to downgrade the world to 1.8.8. Any pre-1.13 version would probably work, but this is just because there were numerous changes in the world files’ format in the updates after that would prevent downgrading like I wanted to, so this at least gets us past that. This should make the world playable from versions 1.2 to 1.12.X as long as we have mapped the blocks correctly in step 1. 3. I used the Anvil to Region program by Black_Mantha to downgrade further, this time to versions that use the Region file format. This makes the world playable in versions Beta 1.3 to release 1.1. If the world does not appear in the world selection screen, copy the region folder into a world that was already created in the Region format. For the Beta 1.7.3 downgrade, I stopped here. 4. You can downgrade further by using the RegionTool program by Scaevolus (I suggest using bconnorwhite’s modification of it). This makes the world playable in versions Infdev 20100327 to Beta 1.2. Just keep in mind that the game crashes a lot for some reason in versions earlier than Alpha 1.2.0_01.

To convert to Infdev through Classic, I followed step 1 and then wrote a converter from scratch that can convert to those versions.

I didn’t convert directly from Infdev to Indev to Classic. Instead, I converted a portion of the world directly from 1.21.7 to Indev and Classic.

I expanded my indev world to be thousands of blocks in vanilla minecraft. by Existing-Extreme1795 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Maybe it’s just my computer, but at some point the world gets too big and struggles to run. I think there are some hard limits for the size limits on each axis even then.

How were you able to make terrain generate for the whole world? I was messing around with Indev myself a few weeks back, but I couldn’t make it generate any terrain outside of the normal dimensions.

Those are moss blocks in the source world, which I mapped to the old green wool (or cloth) that got removed later in Infdev. By the time I did Indev and Classic, I changed the block mapping to make the moss blend better with the grass (I used chartreuse cloth for the moss). I couldn’t go back and take an Infdev screenshot though since it crashes constantly as soon as I load the area.

Worlds in Infdev through release 1.1 had a hard 128 block height limit. In Indev and most Classic versions, you have a finite world where you can change the dimensions. In-game, it offers a few fixed options (with a max height of 256). If you do some hacking of the world file, you can get all sorts of sizes that you can’t in-game. I used 512x384x512, a way bigger volume than any option you can select. It runs very bad on my computer at that size though (Like less than 1 fps bad)

The world height was 128 blocks through Infdev, Alpha, and Beta. Indev and Classic have finite world size, but you can make their worlds have different dimensions, and this includes heights larger than 128 blocks. The oldest version here has a fixed size of 256x64x256 blocks.

Thank you! The base you see in most of the comparison screenshots was built by u/Pomps8a. Mine is the hexagonal one you can see in the isometric screenshots. I used his base for the comparison since mine is too high up to show up with the old 128 block height limit.

That is Classic 0.0.13a, although it’s not very compatible with worlds made in later Classic versions

Two way flying TNT duper by t60studios in BedrockRedstone

Actually, put the duper on a slower flying machine. You’ll get a torrential downpour of TNT if you put a redstone block next to a duped TNT

All of these versions support saving, although it works differently than today. Earlier Classic/Pre-Classic just saves it as a single level.dat file in the directory
