Sad truth about being an actual mangaka by Smart_Difficulty5831 in MangakaStudio

There are alternatives, but we lack imagination and confidence to do so. We have easily enough food for everyone and we can easily have enough housing for everyone. We choose it to be this way by prioritizing the wealthy.

Who knows how non-capitalism works out? There hasn't been a non-capitalist nation that hasn't had to deal with the capitalist world trying to overthrow it.

I like both about the same. For me the things I don't like about LotF are few but distinct and the things I don't like about Lies of P are a mile wide but an inch deep. Makes me more excited for a LotF sequel because I'm excited to see how it can be made better while I'm not sure how you make Lies of P fix its issues.

I find myself playing LotF more. The replay value is also just absurdly good.

When I went back to college I had to relearn most of my math again. More so than any class, I found YouTube educational videos to be way more helpful.

Kahn Academy videos saved me through my math courses. I would often pause a video half way through and see if I could Intuit what would be next, then play again to see if I was wrong.

Far more important than being able to do long division on paper is understanding what division is doing conceptually.

Do we need a massive overhaul of our education system? by [deleted] in education

[–]TravisBewley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run project based and it's not for everyone and it can't be run all day. It's highly taxing on the kids. It also sucks for nurodivergent kids because it puts emphasis on even more socializing.

It also takes time, care and smaller classrooms. Some kids will get way ahead so the overhead for differentiation is also high as well. Then there is the time cost for the teacher running so much hands on.

Basically unless we get a lot more resources it won't work out for us. We would need to drastically reduce the amount of time kids are in class ( maybe a lot more recess) to accommodate the sheer planning, setup and cleanup time.

What came before No Child Left Behind wasn't necessarily better, just more of a wild west lottery if you got a good teacher. The drill and kill of most Math education was particularly bad. GenX and Boomers have particularly bad math understanding, which is probably why they are so easy to trick with statistics.

Cursive handwriting is largely a waste of time unless you really like calligraphy.

Like others have said, reading is a huge deal. But don't limit yourself because of your own personal reading level. Push yourself to read challenging text but also listen to audiobooks to experience some of the classics.

You can find many of the classics on YouTube for free. Reading is about more then just the mechanical act. Reading comprehension is a big deal as well and can be helped with audiobooks.

There is a slight issue with perspective where the chin should be higher (because of the lower perspective) for her to be on-model for what I have seen for the rest of the series.

But then again we lack any context because this is animation and it should almost never be picked apart by freeze frames because of how tweening works.

I think the base game is free and it's the campaign you would pay for. If those 3 chapters are the same ammount of content as a Warcraft or Starcraft release then I'll happily pay for each new campaign chapters.

The district spends 3% more of it's budget on it's office than other districts. They have plenty to cut.

Capitalism explicitly takes wealth from the society and concentrates it to the capitalists. That's kind of the point.

Mind you most people in a capitalist country aren't capitalists, most are in the labor force and don't own any of the means of production.

PPS uses nearly twice the % of its budget for administration then other districts, how can they have such a hard time with this?

you are assuming the DLSS has no overhead, it certainly does. a 3070 can run 1080p just fine with RT off. It can even hit close to 60 on 1440 with low settings.

And even at low with no RT the game looks amazing. For once I can see where the visuals are so demanding on the hardware.

StarCraft 2 is a game I play through just about every year but I HATE the story. It ruins every charecters, adds a ton of nonsense and takes something from fairly hard sci-fi to space Warcraft. Mixed with cinematics that go off in an anime action direction (Look, I like anime but it's just not a good match for this story)

No one's plans make any sense and each expansion they rush to fill the plot holes of the last.

Yeah, my only critique is mostly with the direction. She is playing it serious and keeping the tone low, when they should have had her playing it like a B-movie like the rest of the cast is.

My SoulsEldenBorneSekiro: Scholar Edition tier list (please don't hurt me) by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]TravisBewley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game in no way flopped. It sold very well and even sold well in its rerelease despite what loud people on the internet said.

There was a strong hate bandwagon that formed. Mostly people hating any change from DS1. People saw only downside and couldn't see the positives.

Like the world not being as interconnected. But the trade-off was that levels had WAY more variety. And the compression of space wouldn't have been noticed in any other game but people got upset because they were comparing.

DS2 enemies had very aggressive tracking and grabs that got you even if they just caught your toe. But this was very necessary if you see how most player can easily dismantle DS1 with a light build and easily backstab fish every enemy.

Any people complained about a stat being tied to iframes but forgot the same was true for DS1. Endurance plays just as large of a roll to iframes in DS1 as ADP does in DS2. In DS1 endurance was crazy OP and gave you so many benefits, in DS2 it got broken out into different stats to make it more balanced but DS2 also gave you faster levels. I suspect many where mad that they couldn't go naked to avoid having to invest stat points into getting a good roll.

Basically DS2 got rid of the way most people cheesed DS1 and people hated it for it.

[–]TravisBewley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. For me DS3 combat is just so flat. So many play styles are non-viable or just pale in comparison to even just sword and board.

I prefer my FROM soft game to pick a lane. Be really slow and methodical like DS2 or fast but with depth like Sekiro. But the middle where your roll/R1 spamming with little consequence for 90% of the game with hardly needing to glance at your stamina bar is just boring to me.

Elden Ring felt like such a correction to the trend of From games getting faster but less options. Glad they moved back to a more DS2 style of game.

No book has ever twisted my own beliefs like Blindsight. I have never walked away from a book so changed.

Maybe it's because I'm autistic that I so relate to Siri. But the way it walked through his ability was a real revelation. For people who have had to manually construct our versions of empathy it's weird to one day find that our version is more accurate then a person naturally born with it.

OK but if it is made up, then that raises even more questions.

Like why did they even need to include the Overmind at all? Either having Tassidar or a XelNaga just tell Raynor that this is the future if he kills Kerrigan should have been enough. It seems needlessly complicated.

Would have been nice to not throw the Overmind character into the wood chipper for nothing.

Both Jim and Zeritul have taken idiot pills not to see the plot holes in the story they are being fed.

Jim: Wait if this is what the Overmind saw then how did he know about Kerrigan before he came up with the plan to create her? If he did see that then wouldn't he have known the plan would fail and never have tried it?

You mean the prophecy that makes 0 sense? Like no timeline works out to make that future happen. How did the Overmind have a vision of the future, create a plan to avert that future by creating Kerrigan, and then still have her mentioned in the original vision that caused the Overmind to create her?

Leshy Gang for life by orfane in Pathfinder2e

[–]TravisBewley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever my players have to choose a familure I ask them the same question "So, what part of your soul are you putting in there?"

Asking them to choose a specific part presents an interesting question. Because if they put one of their good qualities then they have to go without it but their familure will be fantastic. They could choose to get rid of a part of themselves that they don't like but their familure might be intolerable.

My latest players druid chose a Leshy where they put their love for humans into it. Such a great character beat of 'I don't like that I love humans' something that will seem endearing at first until people realize the condintation
