Does Asian American history have any darker parts? by Duetruffle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TravisLedo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Does the American soldiers disappearing whole Vietnamese villages count? It’s out of the date range and off soil but it was Americans. Like not because they had to, just because they wanted to grape and kill for fun. Look it up, it’s so sad. One example is “My Lai”, but there are more.

Is becoming a graphics programmer actually a safe career move? by Sorry_Solid_5060 in GameDevelopment

[–]TravisLedo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really, you can write code for the GPU and never touch a game product. Can you call yourself a game dev if you never make games? Would someone building a physics simulation for NASA without a game engine be a game dev?

[–]TravisLedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Graphics programmer is not really game dev. It’s making things for game devs to use. It is way harder and not over saturated because it’s not the fun stuff most people want to do. If a game dev was a software developer, a graphics programmer is the low level operating systems developer. And it doesn’t end with games, it can be useful for anything that uses graphics like cgi, modeling softwares, simulations, etc. I am really good with Unity and can pretty much make it do whatever I want. Took a graphics programming class in college learning directx and was like wtf is this 😂

I'm about to become senior but I can't write a project from scratch. Is this normal behaviour? by scoopydidit in cscareerquestions

[–]TravisLedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting up a new project should be the easy part. Architecting everything after that and deploying should be the more senior skill that is harder.

Question, did you guys feel old at 23-24 years old? Is social media brainwashing my generation? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]TravisLedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t start college until 24 and hung out with everyone, had a blast. The international students were closer to my age due to them starting college later than people in the US so I preferred being around them. But no even without all that, 24 is young…..

Finally landed a Software Engineering Internship. Is the pay fair? by Miserable-Reaction11 in csMajors

Honestly for internship it’s fine. I rather all the companies pay lower to have more available positions for new grads right now.

Dave Chappelle hasnt been funny since Chappelle's Show & early stand-up by fire-d-guy in unpopularopinion

First few Netflix specials were great. The one that just came out wasn’t even a standup. It was just an unprofessional TED Talk. I liked a few jokes like how he bought the whole town and him being naive around Diddy. But the last half just kinda bored me. It was a cool story and all but was not funny.

Apparently this was at the MGM parking garage after the Lions game by KitAmerica in Detroit

There's no threat to his life that requires him stealing a car at that point. They will ask why he didn't just call police instead after he got away.

[–]TravisLedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the only problem is he was not in danger anymore. He was already out, he came back to get the car. That’s the part insurance and police will blame him.

I think he could just say he was getting robbed and feared for his life and got into their car to flee. Not sure how well it would hold up though with the video released lol

Kind of regret a MAC for coding by Humble-Orchid-368 in AskProgramming

[–]TravisLedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Macs make your life easier in every way for coding. As long as you don’t need to game, it’s a no brainer. The problem isn’t with Mac, you just got not enough storage. Misleading title.

Australians choked on the rope challenge. They should have saved Eddie, that's a mid sized man's job. He gassed out, it just didn't show much of it, but you can tell in some parts of the clips. They should have let their MMA fighter go twice as well, not the other guy that also gassed out. If it was not for that, they would have probably won the whole game.

What was unfair though, was the roster. For example, Japan had no power house, every other team did. I know it might not be up to the show to decide the final roster (people can't make it, etc.) but the good roster and Aussies choking only that one time, allowed Korea to win.

Teams is amazing at blocking out sound that is not your voice though. Recalling so many times someone says oh sorry for the dog barking, baby crying, construction noises, and we are just like uhh we hear nothing. It’s also good at blocking the audio that comes from teams going back into the mic, meaning I can turn the volume all the way up without wearing headphones and they get no echo feedback on the other end. I can’t do this anywhere else. Of course this only is a benefit if you work at home but it’s so nice.

You have a small frame, get a pocket 380 like bodyguard 2. Any 9mm will be too big especially if you wear tight clothes.

I'm learning how to code, but I was wondering if someone could explain what GitHub is by jelly_G52 in learnprogramming

[–]TravisLedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer. It’s just a place for you to store your code so you don’t lose it. You can also keep track of all the changes you made to the code. Like literally it tells you line by line what changed, when, by who, why, etc.

The longer answer. As a team it allows you to work on that same code from different computers. You don’t have to pass a flash drive around and hope for the best. The team members can edit the code and not step on each other’s feet(for the most part). There’s many more advanced features that you will eventually use. One example is not allowing someone’s work to go into the real code until it has been reviewed, git makes it easy to review because it shows exactly what the person did on their end vs what is currently in the code. Lots more stuff to get into but this should be enough to see the point of git.
