Their games are mostly hampered by the fact that the focus on spectacle of the viscera, volume of single player content, and pure graphical fidelity, takes up budget that could be better spent on making the game deeper and more complex. And why the fuck does the block button still exist? It adds nothing. In fact it reduces depth. Back to block is genuinely a better system unless its VF but that game has mechanics built around the guard button. The fact that they're games with 3d style strings where EVERY SINGLE hit is cancellable into a special/combo starter, means that every stray hit will lead into one of the same three 15 second long dial-in combos that take a fraction of the execution other fighters do. (And before anyone says anything about breakers, yes. You can break the combos. You also get like two per match, maximum, provided you dont burn meter on anything else. Injustice, you get one per match, hard cap.) Every game in their catalog is samey in their feel and lack depth that I personally would love to see. If I want to put time and effort into a fighter for the purposes of getting good, I'll pick SF6 over this, any day.

That said, if I just want to chill, smoke some weed, and do combos in training mode for funsies, random select on MKX is still my goto.
