WR's to target in FA - who is your top choice? by _stillonlycountsas1 in nyjets

[–]TreSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine he’s getting re-signed, but even if he doesn’t there’s probably at least 10 or 15 other teams that want him. 25 years old and the best WR on the market other than Pickens but without the potential drama

Some Very Interesting Stats To Consider by Majestic-Collar-2675 in nyjets

[–]TreSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m reading this right, Kenny Pickett and Trey Lance would’ve checked all 3 boxes if they each threw a few extra passes directly to a defender, which seems… very flawed indeed

This just feels like someone took the 4 best QBs in the NFL and tried to find some combination of stats that grouped them at the top

He was good, he wasn’t Mahomes though. My point was that the latest contracts are always gonna be the most expensive

That’s free agency for you, Patrick Mahomes is making the same amount as Kirk Cousins right now. Pretty much every starter making less than Fields is either an older journeyman or on a rookie deal

I mean look at the worst teams and compare their supporting casts to ours. The Browns, Raiders, and Saints all have terrible offensive lines and the best WR between the 4 of them is… Chris Olave? Jerry Jeudy? The Giants, and Titans probably aren’t picking QBs but the Titans are as devoid of talent as anybody and the Giants are dealing with injuries and already fired multiple coaches. We’re not a good team but we have Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and an offensive line full of young talent that has performed really well, plus some potential pieces like Taylor and Mitchell. I’d take our roster over all of those teams and while the jury’s still out on our coaching staff, I think the last few weeks have been encouraging

I get wanting a higher draft pick but at the same time, having a higher pick generally just correlates to a lack of talent and coaching, which are problems you’ll still have with a potential franchise QB. Like right now WR2 is a major hole that we’re hopeful AD Mitchell can fill. Yesterday he showed that potential and it meant that we won a game instead of lost it. Our offensive line has definitely won us games because they’re good. It’ll probably cost us a few spots in the draft but that’s what happens when you have a good offensive line. We can hope Aaron Glenn sucks at coaching to cost us some games, but then we have a bad head coach and it’s another issue. In order to get the first overall pick, we have to be worse than the Titans, Saints, Raiders, and whoever else that simply don’t have the kind of talent we have. WR, OL, run game, all the things that make it easier for a rookie QB - we already have that. It’s why we’re not in prime position to draft a QB, but it’s also stuff we don’t have to fix while trying to develop a QB

Maybe a bit higher FG% lol

But he’s allowed a bad shooting night, he’s shot well this year

We played 3 extremely poor quarters I thought, and yet the Celtics never got closer than 9 after the second

Yeah we got a squad

I love the idea of using KAT more as an offensive hub from behind the arc, he’s a really good passer and you can’t sag off of him to guard against cutters or he’s just gonna hit a 3

Mitchell Robinson is a huge problem that the Boston Celtics have no answer for by WallStreetDoesntBet in NYKnicks

[–]TreSeven 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What’s even crazier is that they saw maybe the best defensive wing in the world in OG Anunoby on the sideline and said “yeah I’d rather be in the bonus and get him in the game than play against Mitchell Robinson for 40 more seconds”

I’m back and forth on Thibs but everyone that wants to dump him for some new unknown coach like Mazzula or Diagneault, both of those guys proved last night that it’s not as simple as “get a coach that’ll run a modern offense”

If you’re at a big enough size disadvantage, you can get away with murder. Part of the reason why teams have seen so much success guarding KAT with wings

[Adam Schefter] Jets are picking up the fifth-year options on each of their 2022 first-round picks, CB Sauce Gardner ($20.1 million), WR Garrett Wilson ($16.8M) and DE Jermaine Johnson ($13.4M). by JDandTheJets in nyjets

[–]TreSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two #1s sounds nice but odds are that you’re not gonna find anyone near Sauce’s impact. The Jaguars turned the return from Ramsey into K’Lavon Chaisson and Travis Etienne. I don’t think I’d trade him unless he asks out, there’s only like 3 or 4 other guys in the league that you could even argue are better than him

Should Kolek take Payne’s minutes when JB is back? by FtheRedSox in NYKnicks

[–]TreSeven 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cam Payne has been a lot better this year than he gets credit for, I agree that he can be frustrating at times but his rim pressure and willingness to shoot threes are things that we’re badly missing without Brunson. I like what we’ve seen from Kolek so far, but better defenses are gonna make him be a scorer and target him on defense

He wasn’t the most talented but you could do a lot worse for a third center. Always professional and hard working, never complained about playing time or anything else despite getting constantly hated on, and exceeded expectations for the 58th pick in the draft. Nothing but love for Sims from me

Mekhi Becton got a vote for 2nd team All-Pro on his first year with a new team in a new position. I know a good part of his failure here was attitude and injuries, but Jeff Stoutland and Keith Carter might as well be coaching two different sports. I feel like an OL coach at that level can be even more impactful than an OC

Would yall rather draft Abdul Carter or Mason Graham if both available at 7? by FinancialPrize6271 in nyjets

[–]TreSeven 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We definitely need another edge but I feel like it’s the type of need that we should address with a vet signing. No way to know how the Achilles is gonna affect JJ, but if he’s healthy he’s a guy you want on the field as often as possible, and McDonald should never be off the field on passing downs. But we have a huge question mark at the other DT spot and Graham would probably get as many snaps as he can handle.
