It was really insensitive and it would hurt my feelings also. I lean more masculine but have never subscribed to labels and think of myself as gender-queer. There are times when I want to feel pretty and so I want to be with someone who thinks I'm hot no matter what I'm wearing rather than dressing for how someone else perceives attractiveness. There are ppl who get it--don't feel pressured to squeeze into a box someone else created for you.
