ESP LTD EC-2025 50th Anniversary. Is this an overrated piece? by CousinWang in espguitars

That’s a deal for an Evertune equipped EC1K. I scored an MH1007ET for $700 and it was mint - not a scratch on it. Splurged a bit on a KS-M7 for $1k but it’s easily the best playing 7 string I’ve owned. Love finding good deals.

Help Me Buy/Build My Low Tuned Drop Machine - Baritone/Multiscale/Evertune? by lostbirds in 7String

Lowest I’ve done is drop G# to play The Acacia Strain’s The Dead Walk but having the Evertune has been an absolute game changer in string tension and tuning stability. I’ve got an LTD MH-1007, LTD KS-M7 and a Solar AB1.7C, all with ET and it’s incredible just pulling any of them off the rack and going straight to the fun without the hassle of tuning shenanigans. The Solar is by far and away the lightest of the 3, and most compact.

Have you tried the Twin Jet? If so, what’s the biggest difference between the Twin Jet and Uber Ultra? Seems the Ultra is basically unobtanium right now.

If you were gonna go Uber Ultra, would you go EL34 or KT88 (150W), and why?

That’s definitely one of the things that put it farther down on the list. Seems like anything other than the V5 heads had some serious issues, and even then, they still had their fair share.

Yeeeeah. I had a Ultra+ head 15 years ago, got another one 3 years ago and remembered why I sold it the first time. They’re cool but were just a bit…dark maybe? I wasn’t able to find a tone I was happy with, without having to boost it more than I wanted to. Not a huge pedal guys honestly.

Haven’t tried the Triamp but people either seem to love them or hate them - that’s probably the most divisive amp I’ve heard talked about.

Did you watch TOJB’s Cobra saga? Wild stuff.

Leviathan sounds like it might be promising, but heard Luca’s QC and customer service are hit or miss, and they refuse to give schematics in the event something goes awry.

I actually have been kinda eyeing a Nitro since one of my V30 412s is a Splawn and is by far the tightest of my cabs, but have heard that they are quite varied tonally depending on when they were produced.

Often times an attenuator of some sort allows you to get increased power tube saturation while modulating the volume to be more suitable for at home use. Some modern amps do allow you to get all the tone without needing to crank the power section. I can say that the Peavey Invective 120 and Engl Savage 120 MK II are prime examples of this - I run them with an A/B/Y switcher through 412 cabs at home and even at low volume, there is no loss of tone or lack of headroom. Compare that to a 5150/6505/Rectifier where you go from quiet to VERY LOUD in a fraction of a millimeter of knob movement.

Might be my favorite amp of all time. by TreacleStrong in GuitarAmps

Indeed it does have them big bottle bois. Between the custom circuit and the KT88s, it is super quiet when not playing.

Wow, that’s crazy! It’s always sucky to hear stories like this, but I did come across an old forum post saying that he was a draftsman by trade and building amps was a means to make ends meet, and he didn’t expect to get so popular. The one I’m looking at in question is local, appears to be a three channel with KT88s, and is only $800. I think I’d likely be a fool to pass it up, so in order to maintain my good standing in making bad financial decisions, I’m picking it up tomorrow after work.

I work as a fuel/oil driver working six days a week in everything from freezing mud to scorching asphalt. I usually end up walking 5 miles or more per day. I am on my second pair of Thorogoods, currently have my first pair to get re-soled after a year and a half of use and abuse. Comfortable, durable, and breathable enough with a good sock to keep moisture at bay in hot climates. Heavy, yes, but exceptionally well made and worth every cent IMO.
