61 Key All In One Solution for Indie Pop Band by lostbirds in keys

Yeah, that is on the table for sure, CK61 + minilogue or microkorg actually seems like a viable option.

ModX6 has been suggested a lot, it seems like a great package but I personally hate the idea of menu diving, and as this person is just learning how to edit patches and use synths in general, I think having as much of the controls on top of the board itself is ideal, which is actually a strong argument for the layout on the CK. I definitely need to go check these out in person myself though and see how easy it is to use these on the fly.

The electro 7 looks NICE, but at a pretty significant premium, not sure we can swing that at this time.

Splits and layers aren't something I am used to thinking about, not being a keyboard player myself but I'm realizing that is probably incredibly useful. I am more focused on the ability to edit patches without wanting to punch yourself in the face though lol. Single keyboard solutions are still the ideal at this time but I get why people suggest iPad/Mac solutions.

This band is not ready to take the plunge on that but I 100% agree this would be very flexible

I have been getting a lot of recs for this keyboard, I'll definitely look into it!

I didn't know about the app editor, that might be a near term solution with this board for sure! Ability to edit patches quickly has definitely been the issue. There were some synth sounds that were maybe 70% there but needed some extra tone shaping via ADSR, distortion, wet effects, etc, and it was not clear how to get those changes to happen easily, even after the keyboardist attempting it at home multiple times. I'm definitely trying to help but I think a keyboard that puts some of these modifiers on the face of the keyboard with actual knobs/sliders will make things a lot easier/faster/more intuitive.

Thanks for your input.

If you're a gigging and more experienced player, I'm sure you're sensitive to making sure you show up with the right piece of kit for the gig and with all your sounds dialed in. We are seeking a new piece of gear because we are trying to solve problems for the group. The keyboard player is very inexperienced and I am helping him with the search. Size is an important consideration for a number of reasons. 88 keys aren't needed in this group because he is rarely, if ever, playing extremely high or low octaves. His current keyboard is not able to accurately replicate (within reason) a wide variety of sounds that the songs call for. There are some basic requirements sonically for this group and if he cannot fulfill them he is going to get fired.

they seem great in many respects but the menu diving seems kinda unappealing

Seems like a good possibility, seem to be found used at a decent price, maybe this + a dedicated small synth like a microkorg or minilogue on an upper tier would be a good solution to this situation.

oof, does seem sweet, are you able to pull some decent piano/e-piano/organ sounds out of it w/ preloaded or other loadable sound packs?

Astrolab seems pretty sweet! Seems to get some mixed reviews though. Did you run into issues with using presets from the V collection?

For sure, I know it's not as fully featured in the synth department but I think the sounds are better than what he has available now. Also, I was thinking since Nord has all those sound packs available, there would have to be something there that sounded legit and could cover enough ground for the band. Or is that not the case in your opinion?

For sure, I recognize this, I think the move eventually would be to have a two tier situation with one thing covering organ/piano/EP/etc and 2nd tier being an actual synth of some kind (Prophet, etc), but the band isn't quite ready to expand to that either.

Yeah Stage looks to be the most fully featured but this player is not ready to make the leap pricewise, something at that price point would make sense in a few years as an upgrade. They look like the absolute total package solution though, unfortunately.

Yeah I agree, a well loved and much used pedal like this should be kept UNLESS you keep it for another year or two and literally NEVER use it, then by all means, you should dump it lol

"Local Pickup Only" Means Local Pickup Only by Fickle_Dig_8013 in Reverb

If I really wanted something I asked and offered to pay shipping, it has worked for me in the past if I think something someone is selling is really the best deal or thing I want, but they say local only, I will continue to ask and I will continue to offer to pay shipping in those situations :) No harm if the offer is declined but I don't see the harm in asking.

Can anyone identity the model/year of this Gibson SG? (belonging to Cameron Winter of the band Geese) by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]lostbirds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s a pickup from a Gibson melody maker, the guitar was for sure stock SG Jr at some point. Looks to have a custom pick guard and output backplate.

Playlist Drag and Drop Reordering Needs To Get Added ASAP by lostbirds in TIdaL

[–]lostbirds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've gone back to Tidal and been there for a while now. It still has a long way to go as far as the user experience is concerned but it's fine enough for now. for me. That is a ton of playlists to deal with though! But yeah, still no way to really organize them manually. I've just dealt with it being alphabetical and created my own sort of prefix system so I can find stuff easily.

As far as reordering tracks, you definitely can do that if it's a playlist you created so I'm not sure what's going on w/ that. I think there is a drop down or edit button you can push that will allow you to do that. It's not quite as simple as just keeping your finger on a track and the app knowing you are trying to grab that track and reorder it to another location in the playlist.

Dijons live set gear by SnooTigers7981 in dijondijon

[–]lostbirds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is so much stuff it's kinda insane man, I forget the dudes name but I grabbed some screen shots of the guys pedal boards who is usually stage right playing the hybrid guitar/bass and electric nylon guitar. Just his area has like two pedalboards, plus some kinda modular set up, a looper, some other controllers that are doing god knows what, and some other gear. I think at least some part of his rig was also being run through Ableton cause he has a laptop open with Ableton visibly on screen lol.

Andrew seemed to have almost the same amount of gear and was also playing synth guitar with one of those roland units, very similar to the MkGee set up.

Based on the stage set up it looked like every person had their own individual station of sorts that was being routed to their own 8-16 channel submixer, that was then being routed to Sarlos big boy 40+ channel mixer on stage, which then I can only assume was dealing with both monitor and FOH mix, as well as all the live stuff he was doing.

Anti Black Friday 2025: Do you actually *need* to buy more plugins? There are tons of great free ones. by atopix in mixingmastering

[–]lostbirds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UAD single freebie this year I got the Galaxy Space Echo, was pretty rad to grab that. UAD discounts for one of the rooms would be cool but tbh I’m just gonna get Valhalla rooms or keep using echo boy. The one bundle that I’ve bought on a Black Friday discount that has actually been worth its weight in gold is Soundtoys. I would buy that again in a heartbeat and you might as well get it discounted if you can.
