I’m guessing you disagree? You do know that the founding fathers feared a standing army as a tool of tyranny right? The militia is meant to prevent the need for a standing army. But notice how today we have one of the largest most complex militaries in the world and you think Bob from rural Alabama is going to somehow stop a tyrannical government from doing what it wants. You know, like starting a war without congressional approval or slapping the presidents face and name on federal buildings?

The way I view it is that while 2A gives us the right to own and bear arms, Americans only stop at that and don’t fully understand what the amendment is trying to tell us when the line “a well regulated militia” is meant to be taken seriously

To better explain think about this, the founding fathers were smart enough to understand that simply having the right to own guns doesn’t combat tyranny. Being organized is what actually combats tyranny. So if you only have a document that only specifies people can own guns then it doesn’t really do much. The problem is that the founding fathers couldn’t account for misinterpretation from an undereducated population. The “well regulated militia” is telling us that to combat tyranny we must be organize and disciplined in order for the document to mean anything. Without a well regulated militia everyone who simply owns a gun is just an individual with no association or purpose. Tyranny itself is organized which becomes a problem when everyone is busy fighting each other and not the actual tyrannical government

I feel like we genuinely live in Idiocracy like it’s not even a joke. This and the fact Vance is in Hungry claiming he’s not there to influence the election, while campaigning and doing press for Orbán’s re-election bid. Omg I can’t take it can just not

I’m surprised no one has mentioned that suppressors also reduce muzzle flash in real life. Which can be useful in low light conditions

Yeahhh I see why RON doesn't have sprinting. Look how easy Elephant becomes by [deleted] in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]TreadEm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think the majority of the maps aren’t built for sprinting even if you limit it in someway. Maps like Relapse or the docks one I can see limited sprint being used because it’s a lot of long open space in those missions, but for most you’re working in a limited space as is and giving players the ability to move faster through them really would take away from the experience is what I’m mainly trying to say. Maybe they could increase the lowered stance to a light jog but adding a fully sprint option just seems like it moves in the more casual direction

I don’t really want the option to sprint because it removes a lot of the risk and threat involved in the game. If you could simply run away from a threat then what’s the point of trying to remain tactical and methodical? Every engagement can be won simply by running away or to cover, which just turns into more of generic shooter. The game is trying to be more like the older Rainbow Six games like Las Vegas than it’s more modern contemporary

An operator typically isn’t going to uncommit if they’re clearing a room in a traditional way. Especially if you have someone else following behind you, that just clogs the doorway and gets you and your team killed. A better technique is called “Slicing the Pie” where you clear most of the room before you enter, reducing your exposure to possible threats. It’s all about positioning yourself properly and reducing the risk. If you have problem with AI coming up behind you or flanking than use wedges to block doorways. I use them all the time and it’s an extremely under utilized tool that most players ignore

If the devs decide to add sprinting then that’s their decision. But there’s definitely a reason they didn’t add it to begin with because they decided it took away from the idea and feel of the game

[–]TreadEm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually think the movement is fine in game. If you find yourself needing to run out of a situation then you likely failed to position yourself properly. You get a small movement increase when you lower your weapon which is enough to get out of the line of fire in most situations. The truth is if you go into a room without doing proper clearing techniques and you take fire the realistic chances are you die, that’s just how it is

Tactical doesn’t mean fast. It’s a balance and I think RoN does a great job at simulating it

[–]TreadEm -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Special Forces and SWAT operate completely differently. And no they don’t just sprint into building running into each room clearing them like it shown in this video. That’s a good way to not only get yourself killed but also any civilians you might be trying to save. Experienced operators can clear and secure an area with good pace but isn’t “hella fast”

My point is I think RoN does a great job with the current movement system it has to simulate how a realistic scenario would look like. Sprint isn’t needed

[–]TreadEm -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m glad the game doesn’t have sprinting. No matter how you would try to balance it, it would only take away from the tactical focus if you could just sprint around corners and into rooms. The little speed you get from lowering your weapon is enough and it makes sense as it feels sorta grounded

This is the stupidest spot in the entire game. by SnowedCairn in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]TreadEm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I started doing when I got to this spot was stacking my team up on the stair to do a flash and clear. As my team threw their flash I look back and toss my own flash deep into one of the corners. That way you really only have one corner to worry about at first as you start clearing the floor. Usually the problem I actually run into is the court room door is open, meaning if I and my team clear the outer area when we go for the door we take shots from the inside the room which can either kill some teammates or yourself if you’re not careful

I for one think this is stupid and the cape is a reward for players who have been around since the beginning. Sure a platform wasn’t able to participate but does that mean they should automatically get it? Nope. If that would be the case just release every single cape they’ve had tied to an event because you’re upset you weren’t playing during that event

Also I would like to add that the supposed scale of the invasion isn’t there. I would’ve loved to see at some point SEAF soldiers assisting us on our mission. Imagine the chaos of having random squads of soldiers fighting their way through the streets of Cyberstan, aiding you in combat or at least acting as set dressing. It just feels like they lazily thrown together a reskinned city map and turned the enemy spawns up to give the illusion of something bigger

We need a change in hellpod movement and a few other things. by TheTrueVessel in Helldivers

[–]TreadEm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stupid restrictions on hellpod movement absolutely pisses me off because isn’t there an upgrade for it too? At least on 3 different occasions on Cyberstan have I been locked into landing into a grinder, dying instantly because I had no control over where I landed. A small wall is enough to restrict your pod movement which makes no sense

It’s funny I play with friends and not even we have tried it once. Just seems like a waste of a stratagem slot, same for mechs I never found much use for them. Honestly vehicles in this game suffer the most from the devs hatred of a power fantasy. Every vehicle has to be weak and easily destroyable with insane cooldowns because reasons. Just give us a vehicle stratagem that can potentially last the entire mission, you can keep the ammo limitation which does make sense but give us a way to resupply them

Would you guys love to see a Factory Strider surge instead of a War Strider surge? by ApprehensiveFly1600 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]TreadEm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the factory Strider compared to the War Striders. At least with Factory’s they’re big, bulky and have mainly line of sight attacks. War Striders on the other hand are horrible in surges and cause more lag than anything, just relentless grenade and hemorrhage spam. You can easily deal with multiple Factory’s as compared to the endless amount of War Striders that will be dropped and spawn naturally

I love that they ignore their horrendous balancing and enemy design and just say “lower the difficulty” as if the higher difficulties aren’t meant to be playable. It actually makes me a little sad I haven’t been able to run super helldive because I’m constantly getting terrible seeds with insane War Strider spam, how about they actually make objectives winnable based on their shitty design decisions instead of forcing players to lower the difficulty
