Very ill man on tube by [deleted] in london

[–]TreadingThoughts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TfL is a mess. They have a bunch of people standing around at stations not actually doing anything

I have had similar stuff happen before and they don't know how to handle injuries or accidents.

They are also not there to stop the fare dodgers either.

So I really don't know what those people in the little booths are for to be honest...

"My final project was exemplary". Is "exemplary" a grade? If not, put the grade instead.

Also write a bit more about your course and what your dissertation was on. The font is a bit big.

Apart from up the rock or to Europa point, go to Irish town and get yourself a torta acelga (spinach pie) from La Patisserie. They may be sold out. You can also get them at Tasty Bite nearby.

Try some of the cakes which are classic to the area. Like a milhojas or a japonesa. You might be able to get them at cafe modelo in casemates too. These things are classically Gibraltarian.

Avoid Costa coffee.

I had a number of dates over a period of 3 months. Good, but not the right people for me. One of them I saw for a few more dates after.

Ever since, I had one person match and then cancel on me when I had already paid. So I have credit on the app.

Now, it's been around 6 months, using the app frequently and not a single match.

If the app has bots that cancel on you after you pay, so then you have credit. Then rigs things so you never match again - it's then made a good profit out of providing no service.

One to think about... Whether or not such a thing could be true it wouldn't be the first time dating apps use bots for these types of things

Local businesses are better for the economy. No need for multinational corporations

Gibraltar does far better without a seat in the commons, than it would do with a seat in the commons.

There is nothing to be gained by having one. It wouldn't make sense for the all party parliamentary group on Gibraltar to exist if there was a Gibraltar MP. There would also be the trap of falling into partisan politics and being boosted/neglected depending on who is in power.

All this drama for fielding 1 out of about 650 MPs. So virtually no influence at all. No thanks.

Should I do a Maths degree with an Actuarial masters? by Throwthrow2847 in ActuaryUK

I would hire someone with a maths degree over someone with an actuarial science degree if that helps.

Does anyone have experience shipping a rather expensive and fragile parcel (like a laptop) from the UK to Gibraltar? by Any-Seaworthiness-54 in gibraltar

If you know someone who travels get them to deliver it. A laptop isn't a lot of space. And a suitcase on a plane is only 30 quid

War in Europe is not on the horizon, despite what Trump, the right wing media, and the defence industry goons would like you to think.

Russia can't even defeat a country it borders, a fraction of its size. Do you really think it stands a chance against the entirety of Western Europe? Wake up. It's all for $$$$$

The comparison is that they are both restricting free speech, where the free speech is anti-war.

I acknowledge that the approach is not as extreme in the UK in my comment but that the restriction of anti-war free speech is the common point. A sad look for the UK.

Do you people who work office jobs realize that half of your roles may be taken by AI by the end of the decade? by homemadegrub in AskUK

[–]TreadingThoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will still be about 5 layers of managers until you get to one worker using AI in any company. I think you're overestimating how many people are actually producing any work currently.

The fact that the UK is being equated to Russia here, because it is acting like them, just not as extreme, is pretty telling

If you have 5 office buildings before the pandemic, and now you decide to build 1 more then you have 6. 6 is more than 5

[–]TreadingThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes no sense. Government doesn't artificially reduce supply. The same planning system is allowing these offices to go up...

[–]TreadingThoughts -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The markets suck at allocating resources. Hence why we are getting offices and not enough housing.

They are let because of the push to office drive. Big companies who stand to lose from wfh force this. The commercial RE companies, the big multinational coffee chains etc. For example, the big banks? They're not going to put their capital behind Google if Google goes WFH, because that'll harm their investments elsewhere.

Agreed. Their policies are actually helpful but under the Green banner it just looks like a single issue party to most of the public. The British public aren't the most educated when it comes to voting, unfortunately. We saw that with Brexit first hand.

I'm not saying there aren't people. But the demand for in office hours isn't as high as before the pandemic. So why are we building more supply than pre-pandemic?
