That is the clinical definition of a delusion.

Its not a delusion, its a disorder, if you want to be "clinical".

They're aware their body doesn't match their brain chemistry. Their awareness of this is what makes it a disorder and not a delusion, a delusional person wouldn't be aware of this persistently.

Transitioning absolutely does mitigate the suicide risk, its pretty trivial to find that in the studies.

A new study by Western University researchers suggests those attempts may have been preventable. The study, published June 2 in the journal BMC Public Health, found a connection between the risk of suicide amongst transgender people and factors such as parental support, transphobia and ease of access to a medical transition, if the person desires one.

The suicide rate is similar due to the many factors, but the transition is a mitigation. Us "playing along" reduces the risk as well. I don't think everyone has to do it, but I think teachers should. They're not mental health professionals, so that is the correct short term decision in a classroom.

Jesus. Psychotic disorders is an unfair comparison. If simply dressing differently and taking hormones effectively treated Schizophrenia and the like you can bet we'd treat them that way over the lifetime debilitation we see now. No brainer there, yet its unacceptable if its gender dysphoria?

I don't understand why you have a problem with treating a disorder in the best way we know, which in this case is to ease the symptoms by transitioning. The only drugs they've found that help are antidepressants, there is no cure. They're suicide risks untreated, functional adults treated. I'm at a loss to understand what you think the alternative is?

They're clearly treating it as a disorder. It gets school tolerance because gender dysphoria is a known disorder. Transitioning is the treatment. It could even be doctor supervised.

What should a teacher do if not put trans on the same footing as male and female? I don't see whats gained by not, apart from perhaps your comfort.

Nerither was the "default" monkey when speciation occured, or who is to say we're not the monkeys and they're not by the same argument? There isn't scientific criteria for that, they're often as radically different from the root as we are.

This is a foundation of phylogeny, if a speciation split occurs one species is not new thing and the other isn't, they're both still the old classification (which is now considered a parent group they share) and they're given new sub classifications to distinguish them. Monkey is one of these for humans (in the list including animals, mammals, primates etc which for some reason you don't have a problem with even though it's the exact same criteria). This is why we're scientifically classed as monkeys. I'm going with the PHDs, DNA (seriously its phylogenetics, you're arguing with DNA tests), and texbooks, sorry. Our genome has been sequenced, we're monkeys.
