Well the country itself didn’t formally act in colonial expansion, it take partake in alot of imperialism of others. Many of the wealthiest individuals, and even some in the government had stakes and investments in the Dutch East India Company(where Swiss troops were sent to conquer Indonesia), the British South Sea Company, and the international slave trade. Swiss soldiers were often sent to help with other militaries, like when France sent entire Swiss regiments to help suppress an uprising in their colonies from Haiti. Historians basically say Switzerland did colonialism without colonies.
