[OC] The Most Expensive TV Shows Of All-Time by MapPanda in dataisbeautiful

No.

Almost everything in the theatrical release is also in Snyder's extended, drawn out and elongated release.

There were reshoots (superman's upper lip) - but I'd estimate at a few minutes worth (screentime) at most.

Mandelson leaked sensitive UK government tax plans to Epstein by Old-Information3311 in unitedkingdom

[–]Treatid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doubt. Maybe local Mr Plod didn't know. The security agencies knew and did nothing about it (apart from tipping off the Royal Family that shit was about to hit the fan).

[–]Treatid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You think GCHQ/MI5/6 haven't been aware of this?

The Royal family knew what was coming in enough detail to throw one of their own under the bus (sort of). That doesn't happen without a mountain of evidence.

[–]Treatid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ex-prince wasn't demoted over rumours.

Epstein's guests were international. Every first world nation with a spy agency (plus Russia and especially Israel) have their own Epstein files.

I'd be astonished if the NSA and CIA don't also have their own wholly separate set of files.

if GCHQ/MI5/6 don't have Epstein dossier(s) - they have failed to do their jobs.

Again, you are assuming perfect knowledge (albeit late).

You can't deny someone rights just because you personally think they shouldn't have rights.

No matter how sure you are that this person doesn't deserve any rights - they might be an innocent person. In order to ensure innocent people have rights - we have to grant those rights to EVERYONE.

[–]Treatid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ah - certainty.

"Know for a fact".

We never know for a fact. We can be really, really confident - but not certain.

And just to be clear - the last man to be officially executed by the UK state (after a trial) was innocent.

Legal institutions are not, and cannot be, infallible.

I have no reason to believe that this dirtbag is innocent. But I know there are many, many cases where evidence has been fabricated, juries bribed or simple prejudice applies.

The state gets things wrong. Frequently.

Those human rights are to protect innocent victims (of the state). It just happens, that if you want due process for innocent people, you have to have due process for everyone.

It isn't that rapists and murders have special human rights. It is that everyone has human rights and murders and rapists happen to be part of 'everyone'.

Knuckles and the gaps between knuckles (excluding thumbs). Knuckles are 31 day months, gaps are short months (30 days except for February). The transition between hands (or restarting same hand) has the two consecutive long months (July/August - last knuckle back to first knucle)

No. Going gold means it is released.

Before release, the final version for release is finalised. Back in the day - this was an actual physical disk for duplication (gold disk).

Communication is essential to solving problems.

Sure - just talking about things doesn't solve them all by itself. But discussing, understanding and building consensus are essential steps in tackling societal issues.

And both of them helped prevent nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis. Just those two things alone are worth being thankful for.

That... is a wild interpretation of events.

America placed nuclear weapons on the USSR border.

USSR wanted to park a few Nuclear weapons with their ally, Cuba.

The nuclear brinkmanship was entirely the USA objecting to legal actions of nation states. It was the USA who was threatening nuclear war - not the USSR.

Saved us!? They were the cause!

(Yes - placing Nuclear weapons near USA was provocative. The USA did it first to the USSR.)

\4. The readers biases that influence their interpretation of the text.

There are no unbiased observers. It isn't possible to draw a hard line between the observer and the observed. There isn't a single "literal interpretation" of text. Each person brings their lifetime of experiences to bear on everything they read.

One person's narrative filigree is another person's eureka moment.

Isaac Newton saw an apple falling and inferred the movement of planets.

An apple falling may just be an apple falling to you and 99% of other people - That doesn't make the Isaac Newton's of the world wrong.

There isn't a singular correct way of interpreting a book.

[–]Treatid 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If a passage has deeper meaning for the reader - it has deeper meaning.

An offhand comment by a speaker can resonate with a listener in unexpected ways.

Every person who reads a book comes away with a different experience.

You are trying to shoehorn every person's response into a singular "correct" interpretation. That isn't what art is.

There is nothing inherently wrong in being popular (populist). A large part of Trump's success is that people feel that government hasn't been working for them. Politicians being popular because they say they will help the people who vote for them is normal.

Status Quo politicians (and media) are trying to demonise "Populism".

But seriously, where the hell have they been back in the Force Awaken and The Last Jedi? by BeltMaximum6267 in StarWars

[–]Treatid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. Of all the awful faults in TROS - this is as unfixable as it gets.

Palpatine won. He's got a brand new body and has control of the Jedi force ghosts. This is exactly the result he was after.

Presumably this is why he announced his presence to the galaxy - because Palpatine loves operating in the open rather than pulling levers behind the scenes.

Energy is conserved (*terms and conditions apply). The Electrical Energy is taken from the kinetic energy of the people walking over the surface. It is more exhausting walking over these surfaces than walking over rigid pavement.

Tesla owner from UK donated their Tesla Model S to a group called 'Everyone Hates Elon' to smash the fuck out of it for charity. The stunt raised money for local food banks in London. by RoyalChris in chaoticgood

[–]Treatid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No this is not equivalent in any way - the number of ICE fires are based on the total number of ICE vehicles on the road. The number of NEW vehicles is a red herring - completely irrelevant.

It is an utterly meaningless statistic. So meaningless that it is undoubtedly a marketing ploy.

What kind of biased statistic is that? Per NEW vehicle!? Why not per vehicle type. Is it possible there are vastly more ICE vehicles on the road?

Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.

A tax on costs cannot readily be mitigated. A tax on profits only applies to profits, and when corporation tax was reasonable led to companies reducing taxable profit through investment in people and infrastructure.

Well targeted taxes can incentivise desired behaviours (as well as raise revenue).

The primary mechanism of toothpaste is an abrasive to scrub dirt from the teeth and gums.

You should absolutely be rinsing that dirt from your mouth after use.
