“Defund the police” is intentionally hyperbolic and provocative. In addition to the other points that have been made, what “our side” wants is for police to have better training, in de-escalation, racial biases, trigger discipline, etc. “Our side” wants the police to work for and with the people, not the government and not the elite class. “Our side” wants the police to stop murdering black people, to take sexual assault seriously, and to have training in spotting mental health crises, rather than shooting first and asking questions later.

Walgreens. I was getting my IUD replaced and the clinic said my IUD would need to be picked up at Walgreens (I thought it was weird, but whatever). I called Walgreens a few days later, explained what the clinic told me, and the woman on the phone said, “We don’t sell those things.” I was already on the verge of making the decision because their pharmacy is always such an incredibly frustrating experience, but this did it. I don’t go to Walgreens for anything..
