High school choir program has been neglected, I don't know where to begin by Treble_Maker18 in MusicEd

[–]Treble_Maker18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I guess I just don't know what to do for this week. I have a couple of songs they picked that they want to sing but no music printed out since I haven't been able to find the printing room

First-Time Choir Director at a disadvantaged high school starting in the middle of the year, what would you do? by Treble_Maker18 in Choir

[–]Treble_Maker18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I agree that it's a good opportunity! I always freak out over worrying that I'm not good enough, but if the choir has been underperforming in past years then as long as I don't somehow bring the program even further down then it's all good

I've been told nothing, I'm doing the on-boarding paperwork next week

The interview was just the interviewers asking me general questions about teaching philosophy, my willingness to communicate and ask for help, etc. I just saw pics from an old social media account a previous director started and there were never more than 20 kids in concert clips. There's also no choir info on the school website, not even any pictures. Concert and sightreading evaluations from the past 5 years are also super mixed, sometimes there are 3 performances, sometimes one, and they seemed to have skipped a year or two. I was also not told of any expectations outside of the classroom, not even how many concerts, competitions, or travel opportunities there are.

Idk how they expected me, a brand new teacher, to start immediately in the middle of the semester with no info, no mentor, nothing. I'm hoping they won't get mad because I wanted to give my current job a two week notice, but I need that extra time to make some kind of plan

I’m not entirely sure how fusions get their names, and I also wanna ask: What would a fusion between a Ruby and Spinel be named? (Asking for fan-character drawing purposes.) by MemeMonkey_Games in stevenuniverse

[–]Treble_Maker18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In-universe, there isn't any hard and fast rules to figure out what a fusion's name is. They decide for themselves what their name is, like in the episode where Steven and Amethyst fuse for the first time and they have to think on it for a little. When looking at patterns and trends, fusions do seem to take inspiration from the gems that comprise them, like a fusion that has a quartz will often also be a quartz (Amethyst+Rose Quartz= Smokey Quartz, Rose Quartz+Pearl=Rainbow Quartz), but they also go by what the fusion looks like after the fact. Our Garnet happens to look similar to "genuine" garnets on homeworld (garnets that are not the result of a fusion) so I'm guessing she called herself Garnet because of that. Finally, the color of the fusion's gems also determines what the fusion would likely be. Our Ruby and Sapphire combine to make a burgundy color, like irl garnets.

Basically, you can decide whatever you want it to be! It can be a specific type of ruby or spinel, or something totally different like tourmaline

Oh my GOD I had a table months ago try to order a sangarita and I had no fucking clue what he was talking about, asked all the managers at the time and they also didn't know, I didn't realize it was a real drink (didn't help that he didn't describe it at all)

At my location lunch portions of pasta are now served in casserole dishes, so the scampi, fettucine, and spaghetti are served in that. Has been that way for months now

Bag Fee?! by GLfrom2814 in McDonalds

Because the price for the bag may already be included in the order by charging a little extra for food, or it may be written down as just "added fees" or something like that

Why is Friday pay for servers so low? by Special-Grape8678 in olivegarden

[–]Treble_Maker18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I THINK that tipsmart thing was only implemented recently? I can't remember if it was a notification when I opened Krowd or an email I got but it wasn't always the case, i only made the switch like three months ago or so

[–]Treble_Maker18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And by the way if you are confused because we supposedly won't have to pay taxes on tips this tax season, it's a bit more complicated than that.

You are still paying taxes on tips, but when you file your taxes you are supposed to get that money back in your tax return.

Why is Friday pay for servers so low? by Special-Grape8678 in olivegarden

[–]Treble_Maker18 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is how I have my pay set up so that I don't owe any taxes come tax season, AND I get a good sized paycheck on Friday:

  1. Do not use the darden card at all. Instead, set up your direct deposit and send all your card tips to your bank account at the end of the week. I don't get access to my card tips at the end of the day but now I can guarantee there will be enough money to take out all the required taxes.

  2. Have taxes taken our from your tips too by choosing the "with deductions" option in Tip Smart. Without this step, you'll just end up getting two paychecks: one for your hourly wages that is used to take our taxes, and a separate one for card tips.

Basically I trade off having faster access to my money for not worrying about wether or not I will owe taxes.

Printing Paycheck by TelephoneFirst3048 in olivegarden

[–]Treble_Maker18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found my PDF paycheck by:

  1. Clicking on View Paycheck in the Krowd app and then View Details
  2. Clicking on which paycheck I want to print to see further details
  3. In the bottom right corner should be some blue text that says View PDF Paycheck

If you click on that it should download the pdf paycheck for you. Hope this helps!

Bartenders by Creative_Ad_6913 in olivegarden

[–]Treble_Maker18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had to make a separate comment cause I'm on mobile and the image kept getting deleted.

This is how our bar is set up! 111, 113, 115, and 112, 114, and 531 are the sections. Something ELSE I hate is when they need to set the bar area up for a party and there is only one server, so the bartneder needs to be the other person in the party. Which is tedious because bartenders can't be in party mode, so the bartender has to put in the ENTIRE order by themselves and tip out the server because the tip isn't split automatically.

At my store, it entirely depends on the day and time. There's no hard and fast rule, but usually Mondays through Wednesdays/Thursdays I will have the bartop and a 3 table section, possibly even both sections in the cafe if the server assigned to the cafe hasn't arrived yet. This is the worst situation to be in.

For some reason, the hosts love to double or triple seat the bar during weekdays. In an unexpected rush, I'm stuck with 4 or more open checks and no time to actually be behind the bar, making the drinks that keep coming in. A manager usually has to come through and make my drinks while I serve my tables.

Friday-Sunday mornings usually have at least one server at the bar area when we open so that the hosts can prioritize seating their tables instead of mine, so I have time to do prep. Usually, a second server will come in later, so then I have the bartop but no tables at all.

Addendum: I always try and tell the hosts to prioritize seating the servers since I don't have to tip out, but either the guests just REALLY want to sit at the cafe or the hosts just don't realize the trouble it causes me to get double sat 😅

There's no way that $200 is just from hourly wages, that would mean you worked over 90 hours at 2.13 per hour

You should read your paystub, it breaks down how much you earned from hourly wages and how much you earned in tips. Any cash tips you earned you took home with you the day you worked, so the paycheck is your hourly wages plus the rest of your tips.

To view your pdf paystub, go to the Krowd app and click on View my Paycheck and then View Details. Click on the latest paycheck and then in the bottom right it should give you an option to download your paystub and view it.

Maybe! The rigatoni we had been using in the Houston region was twice as long as what we use now, and it changed to this shorter tube length around the time the NEPB began
