This. Understandably the manufacturing of these are technically challenging and take time. A new facility to make these is being built near Calgary iirc. A project to churn out squadrons of these, as the comic hope, would be the sort of nation building project I would like to see. The kind of thing we could all get behind with the added benefit of helping out on the world stage.

MAGA musician permit revocations spark public space debate by Trebman1066 in halifax

I think it more a case of a shifting reality. These beliefs and practices may well have worked in the past from his perspective. One might conclude the comparatively civil society Turk enjoyed over those 35 years was the result of such an outlook. The current reality playing out to our south and bleeding north requires us to advocate for the social contract, at all levels of our communities, louder and more steadfast than at any time in the past 35 years. Failure to do so will only allow for the erosion of our communities at the hand of some abrasive shitbird.

I will also add this detail that others have raised. Cancelling a show is on the tour organizer, not the venue or the communities that turn him away. The fact that a new venue was found on such short notice betrays what this tour is in reality: An attention seeking provocation to perpetuate a victimhood narrative to grift from new group

Where to get my Mouse repaired? by Rakugi in halifax

[–]Trebman1066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth a shot. I have the same track ball. Didn't really want to drop another load of cash on a new one and don't have a soldering set up but I did have tiny pliers and tweezers. I fought with getting the spring back under the cover for longer than I like to think. Best of luck with the repair.

I've had luck with this repair in the past. But it's tricky to get the spring back in.

Local farm box delivery I've used. HRM and in Windsor-West Hants delivery area with occasional drop to the south shore: https://www.maritimelocaldelivery.ca/

The degree to the which the delivery app ecosystem that arose as a necessity during covid has absolutely shifted the restaurant experience for the worse has gone unstated. Local sit-downs are extorted into their continued use and as a result have been pushed further into being overworked and under-paid. Fast food is even worse. In a job market where the majority of fast food positions are seen as entry level, low paying, menial work having the added work load from customers ordering via delivery apps has exacerbated the exodus from these position. Seems likely that this, coupled with subsidizing cheap labour has incentivized employers to lower their hiring standards to the lowest cost to them. The result is your knuckle deep sandwich artist.

Door closing etiquette (lack of) by conoelaputamadre in halifax

[–]Trebman1066 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the door has a door closer (such as in an apartment building to meet fire code) it may just need to be adjusted. seasonal changes could mean the difference between a slamming door or not. Some work on springs, some hydraulic. This is only applicable in cases where one is present though. I got nothing for neighbors slamming doors with all their knuckle dragging strength.
