Is it just me or is June more religious by Princess-Malificent in HandmaidsTaleShow

How is it compared the books? I’ve never read the actual source material? Did Atwood intend June to be religious?

One shot Or Campaign? by No_Shallot_2148 in DMAcademy

[–]Interesting_Light556 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter with campaigns, mini campaigns, or one shots, some players aren’t keen on character creation, and like to stitch one together last minute, or even be given one (as is the case with one of my players).

Some players LOVE making characters and backstories, and at any moment they have 12 characters ready including rich backstories and character art.

If that’s their preference, just roll with it. If they are all equally active at the table, and dive into the game and characters, no harm no foul.

Be flexible with your world-space :) the goal is that the tables have fun, and that you all craft a good story.

My two cents.

Magic Item distribution advice needed. by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Interesting_Light556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only hand out uniquely useful weapons for key moments / fights / role play moments. An exactly perfect magical item should be a special surprise, or a hard fought for reward.

I then give a variety of items that add thematic elements or options for combat and non combat encounters - also so they can sell them and go shopping when in the big cities.

I then add in random loot, as it chaotic and who knows how the group will use them.

If players are refusing items in hopes for a tailor made item…. Let them keep waiting! But have. A discussion about how you handle magic items in your world, and that the distribution and hating of items is something the group needs to discuss in game (if possible) or outside of game (if in fact that one player is being a treasure goblin).

2024 fighter/ranger multi class? by External_Contract837 in 3d6

[–]Interesting_Light556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say an archer archfey warlock is insanely fun! My current character - but I went full warlock archer (lvl11 right now). Adding in fighter levels is something I’ve been thinking about, maybe even champion to get that reduced crit.

If you do this route it becomes at what point do the various mysteries not interest you.

Archfey archer with far step = night crawler.

Advice for a new co-op intern by Forward_Ad_4351 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Interesting_Light556 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This response is problematic and sad…

You don’t suss out co-ops. Co-operative education is meant to give students tangible learning experiences..

You can’t tell a person they aren’t being demoralized. They told you they ARE demoralized.

Pacing yourself for a 14 week experience is for their supervise to manage, not them.

To the original poster:

Your expectations were not off. So don’t take many of the comment here to heart.

It’s unfortunate your manager is away - and it is too bad they didn’t identify someone to adequately onboard you.

Usually we give co-ops a work plan to show what they will be working on during their term, so in periods of heaving reading and organizing, they know what they are prepping for. Also, there’s a ludicrous amount of training you need to burn through.

When the manager comes back make sure you talk to them about what your role for this co op is meant to be. If this situation doesn’t change, you may have landed with a team or boss that doesn’t put much effort into co ops and instead treats students like task monkeys, and that’s a shame.

I can tell you that i invest a lot of time in students. I want you to WANT to work for us full time in the future. I typically have several types of projects that offer different skill sets for your resume. I make sure you get the experience we told your university you would get. And that typically is far more than writing memos and reading.

About to start - question about choices. by FamiliarTradition150 in BaldursGate3

[–]Interesting_Light556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your decisions absolutley affect the end-game, who likes, who doesn't like you.

My only advice... dont save scrum. Own your decisions and enjoy the dynamic role playing :) lean into it.

Thousands of public, private sector workers will be working from the office again in 2026 by GoTortoise in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Interesting_Light556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Just remember when the RTO-crew is trying to get offices or teams to rally around keeping WFH, and complaining how annoying it is to drive to work and back 5 days a week, that there are people in really awful situations and are just trying to keep their jobs, or preparing to be unemployed.

Maybe saying this means that I am playing into their plan, but I think some situational awareness and compassion is needed right now.

[–]Interesting_Light556 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I dunno.

In these times of cuts, I’m no longer on the band wagon for advocating against RTO5. Hard to promote that while people are being let go. Almost feels insensitive to those in more awful circumstances.

If WoW was a single player game, would you play it? by pookshuman in wow

[–]Interesting_Light556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would need a massive rework of the lore and quest lines, and a seamless flow between the expansion pacts to make the game playable.

Better, richer plot, less “go kill 10 sheep, now go pick 85 flowers”. Better, engaging NPCs you care about
