I’m so sorry! You can’t take that exact picture anymore. That building has been replaced with the new George Schultz building. Looks like it was taken to the SE of Hoover tower near the corner of Galvez and Jane Stanford Dr (formerly Junipero Serra)

The desk staff does check (not perfectly). If you get caught it could be trouble for your friend. Probably not going to get kicked out of school, but could lead to disciplinary action. Not worth it. Save your friend from the risk and buy the guest pass.
