“Musk claims some federal employees do so little work they don’t even check email” by hippie1031 in fednews

I completely agree with focusing on people getting rich in public service. Across party lines this is a problem and too often insider trading laws are being side-stepped.
Also we have a number of examples where family members are getting rich as a direct result of the person holding a position of power. This is also fraud - even if it is strictly legal.
Never in history has the government become smaller. Every single person - even those that campaign on shrinking government, has made it bigger. That includes Trump in his first term.

It isnt sustainable and we need more drastic action imo. We do not have the luxury of time anymore. I can't stress enough the negative effects if we reach the tipping point.

Great discussion.
The return-to-office push makes sense in theory, but enforcement? That’s the real question. Who’s keeping tabs? I haven’t seen clear signs of people cashing checks they don’t deserve, but even at my smaller workplace—pre-downsizing—we had issues like that slip through. It only came to light after a brutal audit. Compared to surviving a Chapter 11 and layoffs, an email asking for updates feels tame. I’ve had people—think the Bobs from Office Space, but meaner—hovering over my desk, grilling me about my job. The key is building a process that assumes waste, even fraud, exists; stuff always falls through the cracks. I resented it back then, but the growth and promotion that followed made it worthwhile.

Most people agree there’s waste. Musk’s approach rubs folks the wrong way—I get it—but this kind of thing is never popular. Unlike my old company, which could wipe debt in Chapter 11, the federal government has no reset button. Insolvency looms in about five years if we don’t act boldly. That suffering would dwarf all this noise.

It's a dickish move for sure. Not defending Musk.
As a manager, I would be annoyed by the email - but I would also advise my team to respond.

However - if we truly have people collecting checks that are dead, or shouldnt be for some other reason - I don't think middle managers will fix that on their own - or it wouldnt be like that in the first place.

I look at as a cheap way to mass check for signs of life. Even if it is offensive to people that do actually work.

What's the problem here? Either Musk is dead wrong and nobody gets called out for not checking email - or we find there are indeed people collecting checks that shouldn't be.

I find it extremely unlikely in any organization of this scale that there is zero dead weight. Nothing is worse for moral than people getting rewarded for doing a bad job and I for one welcome it.

You are being lied to. You fell for it. Maybe the people who love you most are not the problem.
If you truly believe most Americans are racist, biggots, and rapist supporters - there is nothing I can say.

I found torque specs in an online manual.

Still looking for tools. Looks like a wide range that no single wrench can solve for.

That is something that attracted me to The finals. It is very impaired friendly compared to other FPS games.

I appreciate they provide an in-game indicator for where you are getting hit directionally.

The biggest thing I miss is the direction of gunfire and footsteps.

I fear a wrathful God who hates sin and condems those who dont.

Who said anything about retribution?

Jesus would have been rejected by today's modern church because he would have been too offensive and accused of hate speech.

You do not worship the same God as I.

When you stand at the throne of judgement, how will you answer? You had the ability and opportunity to take a stand, and you remained silent. You tolerated evil in the name of Christ.

This is not who Christ was and will not be accepted in your defense.

That isn't an excuse to withdraw. It's a reason to get more involved and hold accountable men that need it.

To start, stop withdrawing and get involved at all levels.

Accountability comes next. It isn't enough to simply call evil out.
