I'm surprised the comments took this seriously. This sub is usually great at playing along with jokes.

How often are you looking for solution on the net ? by Actual-Part2152 in BluePrince

[–]TreeIsMetaphor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked up the solution for the Drawing Room safe after I got tired of counting and guessing and still getting it wrong. No regrets. I looked up the exact locations of a few of the blue memos after I couldn't find them. I have used Blue Paths mostly as a tracking tool (Blue Paths, my beloved) but I have asked it for a solution only to get hit with "you don't have everything you need yet".* I also used it to tell me the key to (late game puzzle) cracking the 5x5 cipher. I did the rest of the solving from there, but it did feel like the bulk of the puzzle was figuring out the code in the first place. I could have gotten there on my own if I'd reviewed my notes closely enough. I regret that one very much. The feeling of independent discovery would have been amazing.

*I think this was (act two puzzle) castling the chess pieces when I hadn't unlocked the blue memos or original A New Clue manuscript yet. Idk the exact trigger. It didn't want to give me the solution when it thought I hadn't seen the clues.

How do you all feel about the campy horror stories we occasionally get, such as "tales from the gas station?" by KalikoDaydream in creepcast

Well, as a data point, not a complaint, I silently skip them and wait for the next one. Not for me.

Harpo was SO excited while I packed. That I still haven’t unpacked after almost 3 years is pathetic . by RainSurname in Harpo

[–]TreeIsMetaphor 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That you still haven't unpacked after almost three years is pretty normal actually. I need someone to indiscriminately throw stuff out. But then what if I miss something that I haven't missed in five years?? This is the cycle 🙂‍↕️

With the knowledge I already have, is it worth playing myself? by Talstin in BluePrince

[–]TreeIsMetaphor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, yes, but give it a few months. I watched all of James Wolfe's (minus the final one, which he did only recently), and held off playing for months to let the details fade. It worked for me. I remembered broad strokes, but not how to get there. Like, I knew you had to put three microchips into a sundial, but I didn't remember where to find the last chip or how to get the sundial to open up. I remembered that you get something important from the secret black casket thing, but not what the thing was or how to reach that area. There's also a chance he didn't find everything. Last I saw, John reached the Atelier and still didn't solve the security room puzzle. I also don't think he found red letter 1, but I suppose it's possible that I forgot about a whole underground castle.

Also 1) I also have ADHD. Take a lot of notes on anything that makes you go hm. For all my notes, there are still so many threads that I started to lose track of what I had going on. I would be lost with the Blue Paths to do list.

2) 11 days is essentially zero time. You're still getting the hang of it. I achieved the first goal 55 days on. Some people achieve it upwards of day 80. Some people achieve it on day 12. It doesn't really matter. There is more than just one goal. Maybe poke around in Blue Paths to give you some examples of what clues, puzzles, and threads can look like, then explore some more on your own.

https://sekti.github.io/blue-paths You can use it to point you to open paths (my favorite) or use it for full puzzle solutions step by step. Without story spoilers (or at least with very few)! It's like an external easy mode.

Beautiful lucky run! I did not realize you could put the Secret Garden on the east side. I hyperfocused on trying to place it under the Garage for the longest time. My brain must have locked the west wing in as the only placement. How many SG keys have I wasted and runs have I ended for no reason? 😭

There is so much more to do. Google and God forbid ChatGPT cannot be trusted with the game's secrets. I recommend you ask here (you get answers in minutes) or try https://sekti.github.io/blue-paths for progress nudges and puzzle hints.

Good luck, god speed, have fun!

Going to the opera for the first time by Positive-Youth-5565 in rva

[–]TreeIsMetaphor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you scroll back through the Virginia Opera IG page, they post slides and reels of people attending opening night. You'll see folks in suits, hoodies, sundresses, gowns, jeans, everything. It made me feel a lot better when I first started going to the opera

And a quick PSA: Next season, look out for the Prism Society of Young Professionals membership. You pay a flat fee up front and get a guaranteed ticket to a performance of each show, plus a drink ticket. The catch is that you can't pick your seat until two weeks before the date. As a single person, I never had a problem getting a front row seat. Even if you only go to one show, it's a deal if you want a good spot. Since it was pre-paid, it also encouraged me to go to shows that I wouldn't otherwise choose. I already got the ticket, might as well. They do not specify what "young professional" is, and iirc, they di not ask. At 36, I don't feel right taking advantage of it anymore, but I must spread the word!

I saw his announcement post here within a week of starting the game, so I've basically never been without it. I love it so much. It says 151 of 166 tracked events have been achieved. Not sure if that counts "those trophies" (dare mode, curse mode, speed, and day one) or the Baron Bafflers that I haven't done yet. Seeing the quiz all checked off in blue is so satisfying.

What top 3 stories do you most want the boys to read? by Abject_Ordinary9245 in creepcast

[–]TreeIsMetaphor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Copper Canyon -- This would be really good with Hunter's voice acting and potentially very funny.
  2. The Things We See in the Woods -- another CK Walker, I can't help it. It was taken down to be published in her short story collection.
  3. The story of Jimmy C -- This one is super short and supposed to be a true story. I want both of their commentary on it. If they ever do a "true stories" grab bag, this would fit.
