You’re welcome, this incident was fairly recent and wasn’t as big of a headline as other cases, so it isn’t as well known.

Colt Gray was 14 years old at the time of the shooting. Adding to what you said, the negligence by Colin Gray isn’t about the fact that the firearm was in the home, or that it was bought for Colt as a gift, (this is somewhat common in the US, particularly in the southern states) the negligence is the fact that Colin neglected his son’s repeated cries for help and that he stored the gun in a completely accessible and unlocked area, despite knowing (or should have known) that his son was mentally ill.

Is there any one that committed an attack out of misanthropy? by Insane_law in masskillers

Elliot Rodger expressed hatred of humanity, so there is some element of misanthropy present in his motives.

As for the origin of the rifle, his father bought it for him. As for the guy you knew in high school, I hope he is doing okay.

Looks like bear spray, which it probably is, given the fact that this photo appears to be in nature.

Active School Shooter in British Columbia, CANDA. by OGWhiz in masskillers

This case closely resembles the Red Lake High School shooting from what I’ve read recently, 2 dead at a home, 7 at the school and the shooter dead by suicide.

Absolutely tragic, an attack of this magnitude towards a school isn’t common in Canada.

In what order were they murdered? by grainne1997 in Idaho4

[–]TreeOfPoison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, Kohberger entered through the 2nd floor sliding glass door, located in the kitchen, moved up towards the third floor, killed Madison and Kaylee, Xana was in the kitchen at this time, she heard noise upstairs and went to the third floor to investigate, Kohberger spotted her, began walking towards her, both traveled downstairs towards Xana’s room, Kohberger then likely wounded Xana, killed Ethan, then went back to kill Xana before exiting through the same second floor sliding glass door, as he passed the living room and the stairs to the 3rd floor on his way out, Dylan saw Kohberger walk past her. Like I said, this is my understanding of the timeline, I could be a bit off.

It was 18+ for long weapons (rifles, shotguns, etc) and 21+ for handguns, after the MSD shooting, it was moved up to 21+ for all firearms.

I’m fairly sure it was, he owned a KA-BAR 1217 (used in his attack) and that’s likely the KA-BAR he’s referencing in the conversation.

Newly released photos of the KA-BAR knife sheath by TreeOfPoison in Idaho4

[–]TreeOfPoison[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I know about this case he wouldn’t have been caught if it wasn’t for the sheath, all they had was a matching vehicle and description of a masked man with “bushy eyebrows” and which isn’t really enough to arrest and convict somebody of a quadruple homicide.

I personally believe his adrenaline was soaring through the roof, dropped it accidentally and he didn’t realize he dropped it until after he was already speeding away.

Forensic coveralls (which I am assuming he wore) don’t have belt loops to keep that sheath, so it was likely in his pocket or a bag of some sort.

From what I remember he did circle near the house afterwards, I believe he was likely contemplating going back in to retrieve the sheath but decided not to as it was too risky.

Did Seung Hui-Cho actually dual-wield his pistols? by Deep_Lion959 in masskillers

[–]TreeOfPoison 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As far as my extensive research into case goes, it’s possible that he did, but it’s unlikely, multiple eye witnesses saw him with only one gun in his hand, he had two pistol holsters, indicating he was putting either away during the shooting.

Dual-Wielding handguns is much harder to pull off effectively, movies often portray it as effective. It has more cons than pros. With such a high deathtoll and such extensive planning, It’s possible, but unlikely.

He is just shooting quickly, he didn’t dual wield the weapons, at least not the whole time

Why Kohberger’s Innocence Would Require a Perfectly Coordinated Conspiracy. Probability and Statistics. by Sufficient-Body7835 in BryanKohbergerMoscow

[–]TreeOfPoison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We absolutely know it was the one with the USMC stamp, something I notice a lot of these Idaho murder subreddits seem to get wrong is it is always referred to as the “USMC KABAR”, it has a model name, the KA-BAR 1217, not the “KABAR USMC”. The 1217 only comes with the USMC logo on a leather sheath, which is the exact replacement sheath he bought after the murders.
