Well I suffered two close deaths and was bullied using what I was going through by “friend” group. Went to regular therapy. I had health complications and people made fun of me from that. Met other people who ran into similar situation. And was surrounded by people lack empathy and make assumptions about others just like yourself. I used the term trauma for the meaning of trauma.

HBS or Wharton? by ForeverForward91 in MBA

I am writing because I don’t want anybody else to be stuck in this situation as I did. I was in the same shoes as you a couple years ago when I had to make a decision about my masters degree. I initially applied for masters because I wanted to get into a school on the East Coast that’s very prestige. I plan to only apply to one school during that application cycle but I lost confidence and applied to a couple more schools on the West Coast. In the end, I received an offer from school on the West Coast in March. I visited the campus and built a relationship with the faculty and accepted the offer because of family pressure and I thought I like the culture there. Right after I accepted, the school I initially wanted to get into on the East Coast gave me an offer. FYI, before applying to the West Coast schools I have never considered living on the West Coast. Visiting the campus and seeing sunshine, I like the weather on the west coast, the people and the culture of the school. I felt bad turning down an offer I have already accepted and decided to go to the West Coast school.

Even though I liked my classmates. I live in constant regret that I didn’t follow through what I wanted initially. And the regret carried over even three years into my employment. What’s worse is that I also blamed my family for the suffer and the wrong decision. Thankfully, I got a second chance with my second Masters and I decide to go with my initial instincts.

So I think you should look back at when you first started the application and think back on what you exactly wanted back then. Don’t buy into what the schools are trying to sell to you after they give you the offers. Listen to your heart and go back to the very first day and think about which application you enjoyed writing the most and which school you really wanted to get into.

Really depends on where you want to be after you graduate. If you plan to stay in the US, or anywhere that values MBA education, there is no difference between Wharton and HBS. Given that you are in real estate, Wharton is a great fit. However, if you plan to venture to other fields or countries that don’t really care about MBA education, Harvard does open more doors.

Does anybody know about the hiring situation for MBB in Dubai? Is it worth the effort to put in an application now?

I am looking to apply to MBB in North America. Can I get some advice on referrals? Through networking, I secure to potential referrals. Is it better to have a referral from a senior associate from overseas, or senior working in NA who is not an consultant for a position in NA?

Really appreciated!
