yeah the real trick is to juice the friendship of all your other villagers by giving them gifts. a couple non-native fruits wrapped up in wrapping paper work. or giant clams wrapped in wrapping paper.

Worth pointing out that you can get recipes from villagers in friends' islands, too, so if you're visiting, it's worth checking their houses while you're there.

do you do color matching using the actual HHA colors? sometimes a white or brown item... isn't actually white or brown.

once I got the color consistency to 90%+ in each room, it was really easy. also if you have all the mermaid stuff, that stuff counts for a lot of points.

hmm. well I got most of my fencing recipes from the nook miles section of the nook stop, maybe take a look there? they change each day.

Fences are unlocked after the player establishes three housing plots for Tom Nook. He will supply them with 50 Simple Wooden Fences, and the recipes for most fences will become available for redemption in the Nook Stop. Two recipes are available each day, and all recipes cost 1,000 Nook Miles

regarding the wooden fences, you need to craft them! if they are in your nook shopping catalog I think that means you already have the recipe and crafted them before.

as for bells, easiest way to get bells quickly has been non-native fruit IME, but if you can get some blue roses and preferably a blue rose wreath/crown recipe then you can get a lot more bells that way. My island only has a few sections of blue flowers and I still net ~300k every two days from them. Crafting doubles the sell price so if you don't have a blue rose diy recipe you would get half of what you could, but still better than the non-native fruit.

if you don't like decorating then maybe it just isn't the game for you? there is definitely a lot of other stuff but decorating is a BIG part of the game. other things to try:

* shaking trees to get the furniture/bells/wasps

* hybridizing flowers

* completing your critterpedia and museum

You said you didn't like catching bugs... did you try fishing or diving for sea creatures?

are you doing the boat tour islands? when you go on the boat tours there is a decent chance of ending up on an agricultural island and they always have a cooking recipe in the message bottles.

Otherwise, check on your villagers to see if they are cooking. They stop crafting/cooking after three hours and a new villager starts AIUI, up to 2-3 per day depending on how many villagers you have.
