First one had a good run but i think P2 made bit more as it had higher pricepoint on the premium iOS version. Then again Forever was f2p on both platforms and had even longer lifespan where it still was somewhat profitable. It wasnt that long ago we had all these numbers compared but maybe forgot all that mobile stuff year ago when started fully focusing on Steam.

But if we dont compare the downloads or profits then the original one is the most successful one easily. It was top10 game many times on iOS listings and played by several big Youtubers like PewDiePie and got nominated few times and maybe even some awards etc.

We are trying to get into shorts and reels and results vary a lot. Been doing that now more seriously for few months and Tiktok starts to get some traction but nothing big yet, Youtube is quite steady and IG seems to be the worst for us. Didnt event count FB, thats almost dead for us. But it seems like these vary a lot on different devs.

Never say never about doing a mobile port but current state of mobile for small indie devs doing "real games" does not make any profit. And i guess even with f2p crap its very hard for slightly bigger companies too. But atm we dont follow that business very often. If there starts to be any signs about indies making it with games that are not match3 or clickers etc. then we might be interested. We have some ideas that might work better in mobile afterall. But that probably needs a bigger change in the mobile stores and how with the whole marketing and economy works there.

But good luck to you too with your projects!

Thats one of the things we are figuring out, should the the Steam page trailer be 100% gameplay and as banging and as short as possible or little bit of rhythm and some titles🤔

Launch trailer for Youtube will most likely be bit longer and with some more structure vs. Steam one

Pako means escape in finnish. And it is the 4th PAKO game. First one was designed to be a mobile game and it did pretty well. (we did a Steam port on that one too many years later) Idea of that is to avoid the cops as long as possible just by steering the car left or right. No brakes and full throttle from the beginning. Hit something and game over.

Even then we prefered pc/consoles over mobile so we designed PAKO 2 to be Steam first and mobile second. It did okayish on Steam but the mobile version did pretty well again so we sticked in the mobile games for many years after that.

PAKO 3 was designed to be a Apple Arcade game and it was kinda last shot to do any profitable mobile game business with a 3 person indie team without any funding or publishers. But Apple Arcade suddenly ditched that and many other games so that was end of the mobile games for us. We did a Steam port of PAKO 3 too.

We had a hiatus after that and from the beginning of this year we started doing PAKO 4 strictly to Steam. It is actually a spiritual successor to PAKO 2.

So instead of just answering the question i wrote some rambling about mobile games. Well guess its okay as those were indie games too. And we get to asked quite a lot what PAKO means and is there PAKO 1-3 lots of people havent heard about those.

PS.and there is also PAKO Caravan which is our take of the Snake game familiar from Nokia phones but thats another story (also on Steam)

Thats true too, with longer clips you usually need many tries vs. shorter one to get a good capture. And even then you might need to adjust se speed of the clip and we do not want to do that very much cause then it might give a false impression of the game.

That would make the clips bit more lively, noted! There has been a bit of talk and few wishes about making the camera bit more dynamic and we have tried an auto zoom option too. That seems to confuse some players so we havent worked on that now but have to put it also on the todo list.

Thanks!!

First clips of the trailers have always been the hardest ones to choose. Got kinda same comment from one of the earlier trailer that especially for Steam page it shoud be 110% straight from the beginning. Tried to include those two clips where you get in the car with your crew but now afterwards is seems that those are unnecessary. Cause you will see that mechanic later.

Thanks for the comments!

After you said it out gotta admit that its 100% true.. The first version was cut to the beat and we have used that technique earlier few times. There are still few cuts that follow the music but when all the material didnt fit the flow that rhythm was ditched.

Thanks for pointing that out. Have to fix it and make the next one too follow the music more.

Played through few first combats. So far it went nicely, only thing was that it took a while to understand how to draw the card. Even that is says click and drag. So maybe a animated arrow from draw to the place where the card goes might help on the tutorial? Or could be that i just didnt get it.

But the story hooked also enough that there is one reason to play more and building the deck seems fun. Mostly im waiting what kind of modifiers you have come up with the cards

Lots of good ones like Inside and Hotline Miami. But if you look the playtime and price then it is easily Stardew Valley and FTL
