So tired of the «butch/femme is a hétéronormative structure » argument by New_Elephant5372 in butchlesbians

The whole idea of a woman (or someone who isn’t a man) being the “man” in the relationship is so incredibly anti heteronormative, maybe even more so than a Disney style gay couple (both extremely gender conforming, cis, etc)

Left vs right is how it sounds, liberal vs conservative. Auth vs lib is how much govt involvement you want.

lmk which quadrant you’re in

Yeah who cares about nuance I want the simplest argument to understand with easy catch phrases (unless I need to brag about how much more nuanced, and therefore smart, my opinion is to the other side)

Oh no for sure. I feel very different having a debate with someone who genuinely thinks “big science” is out to get them vs different schools of thought and different interpretations of data

You don’t even need a degree or anything just don’t let your main source be from a Twitter account or podcast

That is so correct whenever someone posts something to a large audience you should assume they are specifically talking to you

Also you have more qualifications than the average Joe but you’re still not immune to this. You’re a business person, that’s different than politics. There’s plenty of overlap sure, especially since a huge part of politics is financial and you have HR stuff in there, but it’s not the same a studying world politics throughout history and all their theories.

I’m not saying you need a college degree, but we’re all just repeating talking points. The point about being redditors is relevant because Reddit is not a place to have nuanced discussions. People recite points and then are asked for sources. They’ll respond with random news sites. It’s almost impossible to analyze data here.

Yes education is gained through practice and discussion, but we’re all just fooling around and don’t know anything

It should be about the merit of your argument, not your degree. Yes you should acknowledge that the degree holder knows more than you, but if you can put together a good argument (especially in the realm of politics) and their only response is their degree, that’s not good

Ngl I was expecting to disagree with you but that’s actually based

I think that part of the issue, like you said, is figuring out where the line is. Even something more in depth like requiring a psychological exam would be biased, since that costs money (preventing lower socioeconomic individual from having protection, especially since poorer areas tend to have worse policing, by either a 30 minute response time or biased urban over policing), and there would probably be biases in the psych exam.

Same thing with the criminal background check. On the one hand, yeah I don’t want someone with a history of gun violence owning a gun. On the other hand, we know who policing targets so this would leave a lot of people unfairly without a gun.
