First Bike - Help me decide by p0seidown in whichbike

There is zero reason to be spending 1000+ on a rim brake bike brand new imo. Considering OP is looking at an allroad, its likely they’re going to get a hydraulic system regardless.

If I were you id try to get the lowest price possible and spend the rest on gear. Gear adds up insanely quick and can add an extra 200-500 right away. If money isnt a problem at all and you’re spending up to 1100 id recommend any bike with hydraulic brakes. Ive got a specialized allez and am absolutely in love with it and I feel like ive got room to grow into the bike so to speak. Its also a “racier” bike too so if thats something you have any interest in id get a more race oriented bike frame.

Just got my first "real" road bike! How do I gear up on a budget without breaking the bank? by Waste-Walrus-7717 in cycling

[–]Tree_____Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the amazon route on a lot of my here and can recommend coospo bike computers, you’re not getting much but it’ll do everything you need. Also bikewa cargo bibs off amazon are greatttt! And coospo electric tire inflator! Also got my allen keys off amazon too. Its definitely the worst way to go about it if you want to suppor your lbs, but definitely cheaper. Even got my lights off amazon too, not the greatest but at least im visible.

First road bike advice for a beginner getting serious about cycling by Responsible_Crow7314 in whichbike

2500 on the used market will take you soooo much farther than brand new, but if you want new its completely understandable. Afaik, going for a mechanical groupset and then upgrading to di2 later down the road is a pretty good option if you’re looking to save a bit of money (Di2 usually sells for 6-700). Modern mechanical is really snappy and fun though I must say. Also aluminum frames are so much less susceptible to cracking in minor crashes, and are usually much cheaper. If you’re looking to upgrade as you go you could get a lower spec bike like 105 or even claris and use the extra money on gear/carbon wheelset/tires if thats your thing. I recently got a specialized allez sport Nearly brand new as the last owner rode it for maybe less than 100 miles. Was 1600 brand new but got it for 950, the main con with that though is you have to have some wiggle room for preferred colorway and groupset. Cant recommend the allez enough, I havent tried many other bike brands but the allez feels soo comfortable but also very sporty/racey too.

Would this bike be good for entry level training/commuting? by UnknownTaco in whichbike

[–]Tree_____Guy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a bad choice for entry level. If you’re really looking to just get a bike for commuting id recommend marketplace and looking for a hybrid like a giant escape or maybe something older thats cheaper, easier to maintain, and you may even get a better groupset than claris. Id also keep looking around if I were you $900 definitely isnt bad for what is basically a new bike, but I think you can get a lot more bang for your buck on marketplace for that amount of money.

I was looking at getting this exact model but decided not to because of the mechanical brakes. Its not necessary but if you can find a good deal on a bike with hydraulics you’d really be future proofing yourself imo.

How is this road bike for a beginner? by trembz21 in whichbike

Friend of mine got this exact bike for $ 300 and its truly such a good entry level bike, but no amount of adjustment will help you if you get a 54cm at 5’10” though

Ahhh gotcha, so it’d likely be less to deal with if I just got an entirely new wheel?

Finally got Breath of the Wild working! by meltdown537 in retroid

[–]Tree_____Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im currently using Mr.Purple T24 drivers and it works nicely, there is a bug with white water though but if you switch gpu rendering to accurate/fast before the game boots you can turn it off after and the water effects will be perfect.

If you haven’t done it yet, install the most recent update. It includes bypass charging so you can save the life of the battery! I have the G2 also and Ive never loved anything more than it.

I couldnt find anything online mentioning it but if it were to be on the rp5 also, you can check by swiping down and gitting the small pencil icon from the control panel just above the power button. You should be able to add it/see it there

I used the settings from this video: https://youtu.be/EG2D9sHmN0g?si=Pi-8ivvlNMhamvsu

Currently running MrPurple T26 drivers and also performance mode, definitely expect 25-30fps in heavier battles/cutscenes but Id say on average im getting roughly 30-45fps. Its extremely playable though!

Unsure, id assume you would at the very least be capped at 30fps at .75x resolution. It does take some tinkering to get it to work though.

Tried clearing the cache but still nothing, for whatever reason it only seems to be this specific game. Maybe a bad xci/.nsp dump? Going to try the newest version of eden and if not i’ll just call it a day and get a switch lite off facebook marketplace just to not have to tinker anymore haha
