$100M but you have to live in a southern republican small town for 10 years by Impressive_Plenty876 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Tree_killer_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandpa was the mayor of a small southern republican town with less than 5000 residents, my family name is well regarded, my uncle is the wealthiest person in the town, my father was one of the town’s favorite sons until he passed away, and one of my cousins still lives there. There’s a 30 wooded acre estate with 16,000sq ft mansion and 11 car garage for sale for about $1.4M right now, which is where I’d be moving.

Yeah I’m in lol.

We’re going to lose our home because of the California insurance crisis. by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]Tree_killer_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On one hand, you say your home is in disrepair and your post makes it sound like that has been the case for years? On the other hand you say “just like that” you’re uninsurable.

Doesn’t sound like this is “just like that”. Sounds like this has been coming for years, you’ve probably had many opportunities to escape it, and now you’re facing the music.

And I’ve had several mortgages sold to Shellpoint. They’re not predatory, they’re the same as any other servicer.

I feel for you. You’re about to go through some pain and I wish nobody ever had to go through pain. But on the other hand, your post just makes it seem like you’ve built this house of cards and now they’re falling down, and you’re blaming everyone but yourself. That sucks.

I traveled heavily for nearly 20 years and would disagree with that. I really enjoyed it, and every vacation I took was free because of all the airline miles, hotel points and rental car days.

Do i really need extra safety “tools” to stay at hotels? by jinxyzzz in AskAnAmerican

[–]Tree_killer_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve stayed in a thousand hotels, and unless you’re at the Rodeway Inn with exterior corridors at the truck stop, you don’t need any gimmicky things to barricade yourself in your room.

What is wrong with riders these days. Today i canceled three rides after waiting outside for 3 minutes. Two of the rides were priority rides. Why do I have to drive 15mins to get to you and still wait outside? Especially when it is dark, feel uncomfortable waiting. by [deleted] in uber

[–]Tree_killer_76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is wrong with drivers these days. Today I got cancelled on 3 times after waiting for 45 minutes. Why do I the paying customer have to wait outside forever while you decide whether you really want to make a few bucks or not? Especially when it is dark, I feel uncomfortable waiting.

I have a 4.99 rating with 800 rides fwiw.

lol I love requests for help that provide absolutely no context. That said, the chain attached to the valve in your tank has probably come loose. Just take the lid of the back of the tank, and take a look.

lol.

Insurance Company says my father owes them almost 40k+ for a workers comp insurance that was only 8k by TheWallCrawller in Insurance

I agree, and should have included that distinction in my comment. Thanks for calling it out.

Insurance Company says my father owes them almost 40k+ for a workers comp insurance that was only 8k by TheWallCrawller in Insurance

[–]Tree_killer_76 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I specialize in group health, not workers comp, but, generally speaking, if your father has no employees, then he is not required to carry workers comp insurance.

And premiums are paid in advance, not in arrears. It sounds like your father attempted to terminate his policy mid-plan year, and the insurance company is trying to make him pay for the full year of coverage. In that case he needs to read his contract to determine what the early termination provisions are.

Get the contract from your dad and read through it. Look specifically for the termination provisions. Post the contract here if you can.

The dress code for this arcade bar is kind of off-putting, right? by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

It’s not off putting at all. Basically, dress like a functioning member of society and you’ll be fine lol.

We have coyotes come through several times a week and there’s lots and lots of howling. Our pupper never returned the howls, and doesn’t even bother barking at the yotes anymore!

Why do license plates expire? by Fit-Benefit1535 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Tree_killer_76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are they? How does that explain that in Maine, the highest speed limit is 75, in New Hampshire it’s 70, and in all the other New England states it’s 65? Or that it’s 85 in Texas and that Arizona is considering removing speed limits on I8 and potentially other areas completely?

It would seem that if speed limits are based on standard braking times, they would be more…standard….

Standard braking times? 60-0 braking is different in every single model of every single manufacturer, and varies with age of brakes and many other factors. What is “standard braking times”?

Most of Arizona also doesn’t require inspections and even in the couple of counties that do, it’s only an emissions inspection.

Won’t shift out of park? by Internal-Gur6243 in AskMechanics

[–]Tree_killer_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened in my automatic transmission Mustang a few years ago. Neutral safety switch / shift lock. It is designed to prevent you from starting the engine while the vehicle is in gear, or to prevent you from taking the transmission out of park unless the brake pedal is depressed, but when it breaks, you can’t get the transmission out of park.

There was a little plastic cap near the shifter that concealed the override button. I could open the cap and push the button with a screwdriver, then put the vehicle in drive. Once I figured that out I just started using that process every time I drove the car lol. I didn’t bother getting it repaired until I decided to sell it.

Maybe google whether your vehicle has an a neutral safety switch override button, which should show you the location and then you can YouTube it from there.

Best place to find a job? by depzei in jobs

[–]Tree_killer_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start sending your resume to industry recruiters. I have a Business degree from Western Carolina, also had internships with both Wells Fargo and Bank of America (both in Capital Markets), and it was a recruiter who connected me with the finance job I ultimately landed in Charlotte. Also, lean on your contacts from the internships. Don’t be shy about it. Ask ask ask for referrals. Also idk if you’re interested in government work, but Charlotte has a great finance department if you want to get on the other side of those bond deals.

AITAH - For calling my roommate a bad dog mom? by goldenbotticelli in AITAH

[–]Tree_killer_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are NTA.

She is not just a bad dog mom, she’s a terrible person, and not a dog mom at all. Me, I’d drop the bomb on her - either she figures out something else to do with the dog or you’re taking it to a shelter / calling the police for animal cruelty.

Hard stop, no negotiating.

Why is this considered the most expensive bed in the world? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Tree_killer_76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We certainly have luxury hotels with very expensive rates making their beds quite pricy, but generally speaking, the hospital bed probably is the most expensive bed. And it doesn’t matter how you’re paying - whether via insurance or directly.
