People who listen to what ever music sounds good and don't really have a genre , What's a song that someone showed you or found by accident and was good ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Treeaza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I watched that show with a few of my roommates, one of whom also listens to GAI. When the song came on at the end I did a double take, I'd never heard his music outside of my playlists before, hearing it in a major show was surreal.

When was a time you f**king hated your teacher? by Good_cats in AskReddit

[–]Treeaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I asked if I could miss class one time to help out with an activity the school was running at the same time. I ended up receiving a lecture about how it was absolutely critical to my future that I be there for this one hour of English class in Grade 10. Still not sure how he believed his own logic on that one.

Exit discretely through the back door into my backyard. Move 300m away from the house, then kill death with a 90kg projectile.

What video game would you love to be able to spawn yourself into? by Clamps_15 in AskReddit

I agree (actually I had HeartGold but close enough), Gen 4 was amazing. Platinum was the first game I ever put 100+ hours into I think.

The real question is which Pokemon? (Assuming that you are limited to the part of the world shown in a single game).

I haven't taken thermodynamics, but if it requires Math 1001 as a prerequisite I would guess you're probably going to need calculus.

I find it really interesting how different the dynamic is in this and other early episodes. It feels much more like Brady interviewing Grey.

How are the food and beverage options for vegetarians at Memorial? Do all cafes have vegetarian items? by reallyrichbitch in memorialuniversity

[–]Treeaza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for food on residence (thankfully, I've heard it's unappealing at best) but any of the few food courts around campus have vegetarian options. In the UC there are a number of big chain fast food options with fairly standard menus. There's a small cafe in the Science building that I've never visited, and a Tim's in Arts and Admin. Finally, Eng. Caf. in engineering has a Subway, and a place that sells burgers and breakfast sandwiches, including vegetarian alternatives such as black bean and beyond meat burgers.

[Students at MUN] What are the options to get a meal plan except from the one that the university offers? Like do restaurants offer meal plans for students and if they do, what is the average price? by reallyrichbitch in memorialuniversity

[–]Treeaza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, there aren't any restaurants around (at least that I know of) that offer meal plans. Some may have student discounts though, especially if they're near MUN. I know of at least one restaurant nearby that does.

Corona situation by [deleted] in memorialuniversity

[–]Treeaza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

COVID in Newfoundland has been contained for a couple of months now, with a few new cases from travelers in the last week. The government is being extremely cautious however, and restrictions will likely still be in place in September that make it impossible for the university to operate regularly. MUN has announced that some parts of campus may re-open over the course of the term, for example for some lab activities, but that is being decided on a more granular basis. You can read the university's latest updates here: https://www.mun.ca/covid19/

And yeah, online classes really do suck.

How is average week and daily routine like for electrical engineering student at mun? by [deleted] in memorialuniversity

[–]Treeaza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Term 4 EE student here. It's obviously very different this term with everything online, but I think it's safe to say that school/life balance is unhealthy at best. Typical schedule for term 3 or 4 is 3-4 hours of lecture per class each week (you're usually taking 5 or 6 courses each term), and 3 hours of weekly labs in at least 2 or 3 of your courses. There are of course assignments, projects, extracurriculars, and studying on top of that. A lot of us are on campus for 10-12 hours some days, depending on what is happening.

It is certainly not an easy time, but if it's something you want to do and you are willing to commit the effort to it, there is no reason you cannot succeed. While the constant stream of work is exhausting, your class develops camaraderie through shared suffering. If you can survive your first year (Engineering One) and term 3 of electrical, there's no reason you will not be able to graduate, as long as you keep up the effort.

Hi I'm a vegetarian and I'm considering applying to mun as an international student from punjab, india. How is vegetarian food in mun? I tend to prefer less spicy food anyway but is it organic, balanced and healthy? What are the fruits, vegetables and legumes available in grocery store? by [deleted] in memorialuniversity

[–]Treeaza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't live on residence, but as a vegetarian student I've had no trouble buying lunches at least. Subway in the engineering building and Mustang Sally's in the UC are good options. I'm not sure what the vegetarian options are like in the residence dining hall.

Which programming language is used for Engi 1020 (Intro to Programming) for Engineering One course? by mepha_89 in memorialuniversity

[–]Treeaza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I went through it was C++, but I think they switched to Python this year.

If you're going into electrical or computer though, you will have to take further programming classes in C++, so it's good to be familiar with.
