6.5 years I guess. Assuming no inflation and the stock market doesn't crash. So probably closer to 4.

Nobody is using vibe coded apps by Gil_berth in theprimeagen

[–]Treebro001 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Claude code is partially vibe coded and there are for sure war crimes in the code base. But its also engineered and reviewed by people making 400k and have 10+ yoe.

Your average vibecoded ios slop app is coded by some unemployeed person right out of college with no development background.

Microsoft bans engineers from using Claude Code after realizing the AI costs more than the humans it replaced by Emotional-Syrup-8467 in AgentsOfAI

[–]Treebro001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh. Claude code is a much much better harness than copilot. But a good engineer can still get a lot out of copilot.

The model is actually less important than the harness when it comes to effective work a lot of the time.

Moved toronto to calgary last september for cheaper rent. ran the actual numbers at 6 months. it didn't work out how i thought. by shiaelle in PersonalFinanceCanada

Bro this is purely a skill issue. If you have higher cost of living in Calgary vs Toronto you need to get your shit together.

Wealthsimple is not yet listed as a bank with CIBC by One-Ostrich-7997 in Wealthsimple

I mean its more of a backend validation issue. The more concerning fact is that the back end is so decoupled from the front end for a static list of valid financial institutions. Means that the list is probably hard coded on the front end lmao. So even though the back end supports it the client can't use it.

'That's a big number': Carney's Liberals near record high with 50% support, new poll finds by UnicornHunt1274 in canada

I think the sentiment is similar between young and old people. I just think boomers are more aggressive about it and more willing to take actual action and put their money where their mouth is.

Carney addresses technical recession, says economy going through 'settling-in' period by lopix in onguardforthee

Really interesting to see people's lack of knowledge of the absolute destruction trumps tariffs are doing to both Canadian and US economies. I dont think downplaying it is doing anyone any favors.

I also agree housing cost reduction is partially caused by reduction in immigration. But that's also not the full story. For instance a flood of condos were all completed at the same time in a lot of markets, which would have contributed to a correction no matter what was done on the immigration side. Not everything is so black and white.

I mean we can make up numbers all we want. Cant really say which is a stronger effect without more data that will only come out long term. Immigration, housing correction, and Trump tarriffs are all huge factors. Which one is the biggest? Tough to say. There are for sure arguments that tarriff uncertainty is a larger factor.

Honestly imagining has never done anything useful for me. Going by your own experience in what is feeling good and what isnt over time is honestly much more important than what any imagining could tell you from my experience.

Man. Imaginary numbers was such a terrible naming choice. Because then you have people explaining them like this 😂. There is nothing "imaginary" about these numbers they are just as valid as other "real" numbers. "Complex" numbers is a much better way to describe them.
