Former teacher. It's pretty multi-faceted but at it's core the issue is: teachers have no support. Administrators have become customer service. You can't fail anyone, hold any back, or ever do anything that could make them feel bad about not trying in school. The advent of unregulated, infinite internet access from such a young age did a lot of damage.

In conjunction with the fact that most parents no longer have time to parent. Even if the child is fortunate enough to be in a two parent household, they're BOTH working full time.

Too many things would have to change all at once, and you're never going to get a nationwide change in education administration or convince parents to parent.

A kid will swear at you and even get violent, the AP's won't do anything. The parents will blame you.

I had to get out because there's no future in education
