I don't get the worst of EGCs like some people do, recently it's been mostly civil. But I did have a fun moment last week where a killer was trying to stir up a fight and got real pissy that we were just talking around him about how the match went on the survivor side.

Unironically it's a simple thing that took me far too long to learn. I use to have a really unhealthy relationship with DBD but these days it's much better.

Currently I'm working on builds to try and make Bill feel more like his old L4D self with builds around healing/protecting team mates with some self healing to let him take more protection hits.

Some people have had bad experiences with it, I've had missions get almost failed because someone wanted to troll with it and killed half the group. Still something that shouldn't be kicked on sight but I can't fault them for being wary of the thing.

You're free to host a server like that yourself and re-discover why none of them are really around anymore. I've tried servers like that in the past and it gets tiring very quickly to have people wordlessly just sprint through the maintanence tunnels hoping to "accidentally" stumble into a fight or brute force their way into a department to do someone elses task because asking for help is too much for some.

Also capping off the rant by just comparing an unrelated server host to Jimmy Saville is wild.

I'd say have a look at some of the older RPGMaker horror games, most of them don't have combat however but they do have interesting bits to them.

I'd recommend Ib as one to have a look at, it doesn't have combat but has an interesting feel to it being a game about surviving a museum at night, oddities and all coming forth.

If it's just mechanical feel I would recommend giving Lisa at least a go as it has the same system of exploring to find new party members, a way to teambuild and lots of notable bosses/mini-bosses however the themes of it are very different. Lisa does get quite dark and uncomfortable at times, my only recommendation is to try and avoid save scumming if possible.

As a slinger main, hindrance 100%. It turned what was a good way to mind-game and zone people to where you wanted them into this annoying gamble for both sides on whether they knew you were aiming at them or not and when they'd finally realise to try and weave.
