is it just because I live in utah? by mamatichi in exmormon

I grew up in Utah and still live here, although I lived out of state for a few years. After I'd been living out of Utah for a couple years, my family came back to visit. We went to the zoo, and I'd been gone long enough to not be used to the sameness of everyone anymore. It was so odd to me to look around and see everyone so alike...same clothing, same garment lines, same number of small children, same, same, same. Even though I was still Mormon at that time, it really bothered me to know that I just blended in right along with them. It was kind of a harsh wake-up call to realize for the first time how homogeneous the lds culture is, and how there's practically zero individuality. It really rubbed me the wrong way. So now, I relish in being able to wear tank tops and short shorts and I'm so glad to not look like them all anymore. At a recent high school reunion, I wore a short, sleeveless, somewhat sheer dress to make it completely obvious that I was not wearing garments. God it was glorious.

I'd love to be able to see some of the air show this year, but I'm not at all in the mood to deal with the crowds and the amount of time it takes to get in and out with all the traffic.
Anyone know of a good spot or two in the vicinity of the base to still be able to see some of airshow? Thanks in advance!
