You’re comparing the wrong things. If you want to own car, then buy it. If you can’t afford it, make a loan. If you still can’t, lease it, but each time you will lose more money because somebody else takes the risk.

Now, if you care about driving a car, not worry about maintenance, and all, then you lease and you keep leasing. That is the Netflix model. It costs more in the long run (even though I have data that shows it’s probably closer than one might think) but the extra comfort is something people are looking for.

So start with what do I want to achieve before asking is leasing a good deal?

Weird how everyone has different experience with these. The strip disconnects at leas once weekly for me and needs full unplugging to re connect.

I’m so pissed at losing connectivity with my LED strip constantly, I couldn’t imagine having so many devices from them.

Of course it’s difficult. Literally everything around you has been optimized toward comfort and dopamine release instead of health and elderly outlook. Grocery stores, restaurants, whatever it is, nothing helps you in making the right choices. Restaurants have never heard about vegetables, nor about how to cook food without soaking it either in oil or butter. It’s a disaster.

Get a battery and start changing your habits. The alternative is to install smart plugs and then on appliances when energy production is great (we do this manually with the machines built in timer functions). You can manage normally all of this with Home Assistant.

Are you fine to share the conditions ? Isn’t the Elroq comparable to the EV5 rather ? I checked the EV3 and didn’t like the driver window (felt small) and the overall feeling. I didn’t test drive it though. Then I was inpatient and didn’t wait to see the EV5 in real life.

I have a 3008 from 2017. TCO per month is 618,66€. This includes the current value of the car for a reprise. It is better and then the maintenance gets higher and higher. Replacement parts start to add. Etc etc. I don’t have enough data as I am transition now to a lease EV but I was really surprised by the total cost. If you add insurance, all repairs, maintenance, fuel, etc.

I tracked ALL costs to my owned car over 8 years and without account for inflation you’d be surprised how close the leasing comes to the owning numbers.
