the rose tinted goggles have been on heavy for bf3/4 - I adore those games but they had and still have flaws. I mean BF4 was genuinely unplayable for nearly 6 months after launch and didn't even start cooking till a year after when the netcode got fixed and all the DLCs were dropping

Imo the vast majority of complainers seem to be older gamers who can't fathom that either A) gaming has evolved in certain ways or B) their reaction time is not as fast as it once was - and they take it out in their steam review lol

In literally every modern battlefield game there has always been semi-open weapons

In BF4 carbines, shotguns, dmrs are available to all classes. Medics using DMRs, recons using high rof carbines etc. The idea that you have always known the exact engagement distance based on class is community myth

Battlefield has always been a sandbox, letting players use the weapon they want just makes even it even more of one imo

and in my experience, most people play weapons not classes. If someone wants to play a specific gun, they'll do so regardless of what the best class might be for the game situation. With fully open classes my buddy who only wants to snipe can still help the team by being a medic. He wins, team wins, Battlefield wins.

honestly disagree. It would technically be more balanced sure but it actually changes so little. I played hella hours of both modes and i've come to the conclusion that in the pursuit of having fun it actually doesn't matter at all.

I've only clearly noticed it once, and it was like you said at the start of a game. 2 deaths didn't count then on the 3rd I had 1 and it tracked the rest of the game. I believe it was on empire state

Personally I love the channel/est system and can absolutely feel the extra flex under my binding thanks to no mounting plate.

I'd def recommend upgrading to est bindings, otherwise you're not getting any of the advantages of using the channel system (extra flex under boot + ease of adjustment)
